POSITION PURPOSE
The Project Accountant’s primary responsibility is to monitor job profitability for their Division.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Including but not limited to)
- Set up and maintain budgets/contracts
- Reporting of all pending and approved change orders throughout the job
- Process quantity updates & Back charges
- Subcontracts compliance, processing and billing
- Long form P.O’s on tracking actual and committed costs
- Committed Cost Reconciliation/Accruals
- Month-End Reporting
- Maintain an accurate contract and billing based on correspondence from the owner
- Attend pre-construction meetings (on larger projects)
- Time and Material billings
- Responsible for analyzing, updating and providing accurate cost reports
- Assistance in collections efforts to minimize past due AR balances
- Other duties as assigned
Specific Job Knowledge, Skill, and Ability
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience of Cost Accounting in the Construction Industry.
- Experience in cost analysis is required.
- Experience with an integrated construction accounting and project management software preferred.
- Have basic knowledge with basic accounting principles (i.e. journal entries, debits, credits, etc.)and accounting functions. Job cost and construction experience will be a plus for this position.
- Ability to accurately work under pressure in meeting deadlines.
- Must have excellent organizational skills.
- Must have excellent communication and written skills.
- Must be detail oriented.
- Must be proficient with Excel, Word and Outlook applications.

EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or equivalent.

- Most time spent in an indoor office environment
- Sitting at a desk for prolonged periods of time
- Occasional lifting of files and boxes up to 20 lbs
- Pushing/pulling of file cabinets
- Extended visual use of a computer screen
- Frequent typing
