Job Description:

Maryland Environmental Service has an opening for an Occupational Safety & Health Compliance Officer at the Dundalk Marine Terminal facility in Baltimore, Maryland. This position will be responsible for assisting the Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Port Administration with inspection of workplaces to ensure compliance and to enforce state and federal occupational safety and health laws, regulations and standards. The candidate will also assist with preparing employee safety training as well as accident and incident investigations, to identify root causes. Must be able to pass a background check in order to obtain a TWIC badge and be able to pass a HAZMAT physical exam.

Estimated Pay Range:

$58,028.88 - $79,781.52

Minimum Requirements:

Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate plus one year of experience in the inspection of workplaces to ensure compliance and initiate enforcement of state and federal occupational safety and health laws, regulations and standards.

Notes: Additional experience in the interpretation and application of fire, health or safety regulations, and the preparation of narrative reports documenting factual findings of inspections or investigations may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education. Thirty semester credit hours to include twelve credit hours in construction, engineering, fire, manufacturing or occupational safety and health technologies may be substituted for the required experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Three or more years in a safety related role and/or additional safety related certifications such as, but not limited to, Graduate Safety Professional (GSP)/Associate Safety Professional (ASP), OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER, and OSHA 30 for General Industry and/or Construction.

Must have a valid driver’s license with less than 5 points.
