Description
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
· Develop work plans to execute projects
· Plans, directs, supervises, and coordinates the work of subordinate skilled and semi-skilled trades workers and maintenance staff to complete a project
· Prepares budgets, schedules, and cost estimates for projects
· Orders equipment, tools, parts, and supplies for projects
· Supervises contractors
· Ensures projects meet environmental and safety standards.
· Coordinates all emergency response activities related to the water sewer system
· Performs and has a thorough understanding of a variety of trade-related tasks such as plumbing, electrical high and low voltage, pump stations, water distribution system, construction, and repairs of buildings, etc.
NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
· Helps other employees or departments as needed
· Performs other related duties as required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Education equivalent to an associate degree in facilities management, project management, environmental science, engineering, , or other related field; supplemented with 3 years of experience. Experience in water or wastewater utility projects or municipal infrastructure.
SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Must possess satisfactory results of a criminal history background check.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
· Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
· Project management skills, including scheduling, budgeting, and contract administration.
· Advanced knowledge of the methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in general building maintenance, mechanical systems, electrical systems, and carpentry
· Select, oversee, and evaluate consultants, contractors, and vendors.
· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers, partners, contractors, peers, subordinates, and superiors
· Ability to enforce safety and other regulations
· Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office
· Ability to use independent judgment and work with little direct supervision as situations warrant
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position classifies the physical exertion requirements as heavy. Must be able to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 25 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. May work on rough or uneven surfaces, and confined spaces. May be required to work after hours, weekends, and on call. Must be able to perceive and discriminate depths, odors, and colors.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Essential functions are regularly performed in and around various county buildings. Tasks may risk exposure to chemicals, odors, machinery, wetness, dust, fumes, dirt, vibrations, electricity, driving and confined spaces.
