Job Description – YARD SCANNER

 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

1. Control the flow of traffic entering and exiting the depot.

2. Work closely with security personnel to ensure there is no congestion on the public road.

3. Identify and differentiate between various container ISO types and distinguish between the different container grades.

4. Scan all containers into the depot upon arrival, ensuring accurate recording of each unit.

5. Inspect units for visible defects or damage and communicate any findings to the driver and tracking clerks.

6. Scan containers out of the depot and verify each unit is fully operational before authorizing its departure.

7. If a unit is found to be non – operational, basic troubleshooting must be conducted on the container. If the issue cannot be resolved, notify the tracking clerk to assign a Reefer technician.

8. Maintain a clean, neat, and organized workstation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE

Grade 12 / Matric

 

In-house training provided.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

 

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions. Ability to write simple correspondence.

 

 

REASONING ABILITY:

 

Basic Skills: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
