Position Summary
The Student Event Staff member – Concessions & Ticketing – serves as an essential part of the gameday and event operations team for the Athletics Department at the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point. This position focuses on delivering high-quality customer service and supporting efficient operations in concessions stands and ticketing areas during athletic events and special functions.
Student Event Staff work under the direction of Student Event Leads and Athletics staff to ensure a positive, safe, and professional experience for all event attendees. This role provides valuable hands-on experience in customer service, cash handling, teamwork, and event operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Concessions Operations
- Prepare, sell, and serve food and beverages in accordance with food safety guidelines.
- Operate cash registers and handle cash and electronic transactions accurately.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and stocking of concession areas throughout events.
- Assist with setup, restocking, and breakdown of concession stands.
- Follow all health, safety, and sanitation standards.
Ticketing Operations
- Sell and distribute event tickets while providing accurate information on pricing and seating.
- Operate ticketing systems and handle financial transactions responsibly.
- Scan tickets and assist with guest entry at designated gates.
- Monitor ticketing areas to ensure smooth entry flow and minimize delays.
Customer Service and Event Experience
- Provide friendly, professional, and responsive service to guests.
- Answer questions and provide directions or event information as needed.
- Help foster a positive and welcoming atmosphere at all events.
- Address minor concerns and escalate more complex issues to Event Leads or professional staff.
Teamwork and Operations Support
- Follow directions from Student Event Leads and Athletics staff.
- Arrive on time and prepare for assigned shifts.
- Assist with basic event setup and cleanup as needed.
- Collaborate with fellow staff members to ensure efficient operations.
Required Qualifications
- Must be enrolled as a student at the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Dependable, punctual, and responsible.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
- Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and around holidays based on event schedules.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in customer service, food service, retail, or cash handling.
- Interest in sports, event management, or athletics operations.
- Familiarity with basic point-of-sales (POS) systems or ticketing platforms.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods during events.
- Ability to lift and carry items up to 25–30 pounds.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying conditions.
