Description
The Bistro Barista and Cashier serves as a key frontline team member responsible for delivering an exceptional customer experience within a high-volume corporate dining environment. As a blended customer service, barista, and cashier role, this position supports daily Bistro operations through hot/cold beverage and prepackaged food preparation, point-of-sale transaction processing, and hospitality services while ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and quality. The Bistro Barista and Cashier contributes to operational flow by maintaining a welcoming atmosphere, supporting team effectiveness, and providing responsive service to employees and guests.
The Bistro Barista and Cashier Duties
- Greet employees, guests, and visitors in a friendly, professional, and welcoming manner.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for customer questions, requests, and concerns.
- Provide information regarding menu items, ingredients, pricing, beverage options, and product offerings.
- Assist customers with product selection and beverage customization requests.
- Resolve routine customer concerns and escalate issues as appropriate.
- Maintain a positive atmosphere that supports the organization’s culture and hospitality standards.
- Deliver efficient, accurate service during high-volume periods.
- Prepare coffee, espresso-based beverages, teas, and specialty drinks according to established recipes and quality standards.
- Prepare and serve prepackaged food and grab-and-go items.
- Ensure beverage and food orders are completed accurately and timely.
- Monitor beverage quality, presentation, and consistency.
- Operate coffee equipment and food service tools safely and effectively.
- Restock ingredients and supplies necessary for beverage and food preparation.
- Maintain compliance with food safety and sanitation standards.
- Accurately enter customer orders into the point-of-sale system.
- Process transactions using cashless payment methods including badge pay, credit/debit cards, and mobile payment platforms.
- Scan and verify items to ensure pricing and selections are accurate.
- Troubleshoot basic transaction issues and escalate concerns when appropriate.
- Maintain accurate transaction records and receipts.
- Complete assigned reconciliation and closing activities.
- Report transaction discrepancies and system issues to leadership.
- Follow established internal control and payment handling procedures.
- Maintain clean, organized, and sanitized workstations, counters, equipment, and service areas.
- Stock beverages, grab-and-go items, cups, utensils, condiments, and other supplies.
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate replenishment needs.
- Support opening, closing, and daily operational checklists.
- Assist with front-of-house operations and overall Bistro efficiency.
- Monitor customer flow and support efficient movement through service and checkout areas.
- Maintain an organized, guest-focused dining and coffee bar environment.
- Maintain clean, organized, and sanitized workstations, counters, equipment, and service areas.
- Stock beverages, grab-and-go items, cups, utensils, condiments, and other supplies.
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate replenishment needs.

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
Years of Related Experience: 0-1 years of point-of-sale experience
