Examples of Duties:
- Rescues swimmers in danger of drowning and administers first aid.
- Maintains order in swimming areas.
- Cautions swimmers regarding unsafe areas. Inspects facilities for cleanliness.
- Cleans and refills swimming pool.
- Determines chlorine content and pH value of water with water testing kit.
- Conducts or officiates swimming meets.
- Gives swimming instructions.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
- 16 years of age by start date.
- Valid StarGuard Lifeguard Certification or completion of the class before start date. You must be able to:
- Swim 50 meters
- Swim 50 meters with a rescue tube
- Tread water for 2 minutes without using hands
- Retrieve a 10lb object from deep end of the pool
- First Aid/CPR for Professional Rescuers.
