Location: Miami Lakes, FL
Schedule: Hybrid (2 days in office, 3 days remote)
A Staff Accountant is an entry or mid-level accounting professional who is responsible for maintaining financial records at a business, usually as part of a team. Their duties include confirming compliance with IRS rules, reconciling bank statements and balancing the ledger for regular reports.
Objectives of this role
- Execute mid-level general-ledger account reconciliations, accurate reporting, and data verification, enabling senior staff to analyze options and make financial decisions aligned with company objectives
- Monitor policies and procedures for assigned departments, and identify and suggest improvements for accounting reports and procedures
Responsibilities
- Conduct mid-level general-ledger account reconciliations, verify accuracy of data, and identify and correct errors made by internal and external personnel
- Support in the preparation of the standard set of monthly financial statements, as well as a variety of management reports.
- Provide information needed by outside auditors to examine the company’s financial statements and accounting system.
- Verify that supplier invoices should be paid and pay them by designated due date.
- Enter accounting related information into business logs.
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations.
Required skills and qualifications
- Professional experience in accounting, such as internship or staff role
- Advance Excel Skills
- Ability to prioritize, and organize effectively
- Desire to continue professional growth through training
Preferred skills and qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in accounting, business accounting, or finance
- Experience in audit accounting
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
