Description
As a high-growth firm, Wilson Engineers offers the opportunity to work on impactful and technically challenging projects alongside a talented and passionate team. We are currently seeking an experienced Construction Manager to join our Tempe, Arizona office.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary liaison between the Owner (City), Contractor, and project team, fostering strong relationships and ensuring effective communication throughout construction.
- Review project plans, specifications, and contract documents to develop a comprehensive understanding of project scope, requirements, and construction objectives.
- Lead and facilitate construction progress meetings and owner meetings, driving alignment, resolving issues, and documenting key decisions.
- Prepare and distribute detailed meeting minutes to keep stakeholders informed and projects moving forward.
- Interpret the prime construction contract and provide guidance and recommendations to the Owner regarding contract administration, compliance, and project execution.
- Manage construction contract budgets by reviewing contractor Schedule of Values and payment applications to verify work completed and support accurate project invoicing.
- Evaluate contractor schedules, identify potential risks or delays, and provide recommendations to both the Contractor and Owner to help keep projects on schedule.
- Review contractor cost proposals and change requests, providing objective recommendations that support informed decision-making by the Owner.
- Perform field inspections to verify construction activities comply with project plans, specifications, quality standards, and applicable codes. Document observations through photographs and detailed daily reports.
- Coordinate with materials testing firms, review testing results, and confirm that construction materials meet project specifications and quality requirements.
- Manage project closeout activities by developing punch lists, reviewing contractor redline drawings, and preparing final closeout documentation to support a successful project completion.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering. A Professional Engineer (P.E.) registration is preferred.
- Applicable experience of 4-8 years working in the water, wastewater, transportation or civil construction industry, preferably as a Construction Manager, Field Engineer, Civil Construction Inspector, or similar may be substituted for the degree requirement
- Knowledge of construction means & methods and quality control measures, along with knowledge and experience in water/wastewater construction is a plus
- Proactive and self-motivated individual, able to meet challenging time constraints
- Proficient with Bluebeam, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook software
- Familiar with Microsoft Project and P6 Scheduling software a plus
