Description

Printpack, a leading manufacturer of flexible packaging, is looking for a Maintenance Manager to join our team. In this role, you'll provide strategic leadership for the maintenance department, drive equipment reliability across the facility, and play a critical role in ensuring plant-wide safety, quality, and operational excellence.

About the Role

Are you a maintenance leader who thrives at the intersection of equipment reliability, team development, and operational strategy? As our Maintenance Manager, you'll serve on the Plant Leadership Team and own the maintenance function at the facility level — from preventive and predictive maintenance programs to capital project management and emergency coordination. This is a high-impact leadership role where your expertise directly drives uptime, protects our associates, and ensures we meet or exceed customer expectations.

What You'll Do

  • Lead and continuously improve comprehensive preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs to maximize equipment reliability and minimize downtime
  • Champion safety leadership and serve as plant emergency coordinator, ensuring compliance with federal/state fire, safety, environmental, and food safety regulations
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives through lean manufacturing principles, including TPM implementation and root cause analysis for equipment failures
  • Lead, mentor, and coach the maintenance team while identifying and staffing the department with qualified talent
  • Manage comprehensive work order systems with emphasis on safety work orders, preventive maintenance scheduling, and Daily Team Maintenance initiatives
  • Coordinate and manage the annual department budget, optimizing resource allocation for maximum operational efficiency
  • Manage capital and expense projects related to new equipment and continuous improvement, working closely with Process and Corporate Engineers
  • Perform daily plant walks to observe and adjust safety, quality, and productivity issues impacting performance
  • Select, oversee, and evaluate contractor performance to ensure safe, cost-effective, and compliant execution of maintenance and capital activities
  • Support technical needs in dealing with community and governmental groups while maintaining compliance with corporate policies

Skills That Set You Apart

  • Strategic Maintenance Leadership — Developing and executing long-term maintenance strategies, leading organizational change, and inspiring teams toward operational excellence and safety leadership
  • Equipment Reliability & Program Development — Building and overseeing comprehensive PM/PdM/CM programs that optimize asset performance and translate to increased quality and customer satisfaction
  • Safety & Emergency Management — Leading hazard identification, risk assessment, and emergency response coordination while fostering a culture of safe behavior commitment
  • Capital Project Management — Managing multiple projects from conception through completion, coordinating cross-functional teams, and ensuring timeline and budget adherence
  • Team Leadership & Development — Building, coaching, and developing high-performing maintenance teams with focus on talent acquisition, engagement, and professional growth
  • Budget & Financial Acumen — Developing and managing departmental budgets, analyzing financial performance, and communicating resource needs to senior leadership
  • Continuous Improvement & Lean — Applying TPM, root cause analysis, and lean tools to drive reliability improvement and operational effectiveness
  • CMMS & Work Order Management — Proficiency in computerized maintenance management systems, work order tracking, and preventive maintenance scheduling
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration — Working effectively with engineering teams, plant management, external stakeholders, and vendor partnerships

What You Bring

  • Proven track record of progressive maintenance leadership experience in a manufacturing setting, with strong technical knowledge gained through hands-on work, technical training, apprenticeships, certifications, and/or formal education in a related discipline.
  • Proven experience leading a maintenance department in a manufacturing environment with supervisory/management responsibility
  • Experience implementing Preventive and Predictive Maintenance technologies and Lean Manufacturing principles (TPM)
  • Technical degree in electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, or pneumatics, or equivalent experience.
  • Expert knowledge in one or more of these areas: mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
  • Prior experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems)
  • Advanced experience with PLCs, automation systems, and robotics preferred
  • Proficiency in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Kaizen methodologies with relevant certifications preferred

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Primary work hours Monday–Friday with flexibility required for equipment failures, plant emergencies, and supporting projects
  • Work performed in both office and manufacturing plant environments
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs/ladders, and navigate manufacturing areas; lift up to 50 lbs occasionally; PPE required in designated areas (hearing protection, safety glasses, steel-toe shoes)
  • Exposure to varying temperatures, industrial noise, and occasional dust, chemicals, or industrial materials
  • Travel: Not typically required

Why Join Us?

We foster a culture rooted in collaboration, innovation, accountability, and respect — and we're looking for maintenance leaders who share that commitment. Here, you won't just maintain equipment — you'll drive the reliability and operational excellence that keeps our customers coming back.
