Transportation Coordinator - 3rd Shift

The Charlotte Traffic Department currently has an opening for a Transporation Coordinator. This role is responsible for coordinating daily transportation and dispatch operations to support safe, efficient, and on-time deliveries. The Dispatch Coordinator works closely with drivers, transportation teams, and other cross-functional partners to coordinate driver assignments, monitor equipment and loads, and ensure smooth operations across shifts.

 

This position plays a key role in maintaining visibility of fleet activity, monitoring driver DOT Hours of Service, coordinating inbound and outbound movements, and supporting effective communication between teams. The Transporation Coordinator will also help ensure a seamless handoff between shifts and provide operational support as business needs require.

Responsibilities

• The position is an alternating workweek alternating Wednesday through Saturday 7pm – 7am and Thursday - Saturday 7pm - 7am. Please note that working overtime, weekends and holidays will be required.
• Extensive and effective communication with various functions to ensure successful deliveries.
• Dispatch Coordination of all inbound/outbound drivers and equipment.
• Assignment of runs to OTR drivers on a daily basis.
• Yard Management: tracking of Company Fleet and Common Carrier loads.
• Tracking of offsite tractors and trailers.
• Monitor and track Frito-Lay Drivers DOT Hours of Service.
• Manifesting of all retail and vend deliveries.
• Communicate effectively with shift counterparts for successful hand-off between shifts.
• Active participation in various Department Team/Business meetings.
• Backfill other shifts as necessary.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Overtime as needed

Compensation and Benefits:

• The expected compensation range for this position is between $39,500 - $63,100.

Qualifications

Required

High School Diploma or GED2+ years of dispatching experienceMicrosoft Excel and Word proficiencyStrong math and analytical skills, including basic calculations and data analysisAbility to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines with minimal supervisionAvailability to work weekends, overtime, and holidays

 

Preferred

1+ year of experience applying DOT Hours of Service regulations1+ year of experience with DOT Drug/Alcohol compliance and testing requirements
