Sample Coordinator

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES 

Laboratory Operations 

• Execute laboratory tests and procedures in compliance with safety rules, quality standards, and certification requirements. 

• Perform plausibility checks and control of measurement results and reports before delivery to internal and external customers. 

• Monitor and maintain test equipment and measuring instruments to ensure accuracy and reliability. 

• Store and manage samples, data, and reports in accordance with lab protocols. 

• Support the introduction and validation of new testing methods and equipment in coordination with the Team Lead. 

• Apply and adapt measures related to occupational safety, quality, and performance standards. 

• Ensure administrative compliance (e.g., time tracking, documentation) according to Omya and legal requirements. 

• Consider planned absences and non-project activities in coordination with the Team Lead. 

Project Support 

• Act as a contact person for internal customers during project execution, providing updates on scope and timelines. 

• Implement special projects under supervision, including method development and process improvements. 

• Evaluate and suggest improvements to lab procedures and workflows to enhance efficiency and resource utilization. 

Customer Interaction & Consulting 

• Advise internal customers on appropriate test methods and scopes and support with input all team members. 

• Highlight synergies and opportunities to streamline lab activities and free up resources for strategic tasks. 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

RESPONSIBILITIES:   

• Process daily samples, prototype and literature requests from customers and Omya's Sales Department, including receiving, documenting, ordering and shipping.
• Effectively communicate with customers and members of Omya's Sales Department when shipments are processed, ordered, backordered or shipped.
• Email order status to the corresponding requesting party, on a regular basis.
• Ensure timely delivery of samples to customers.
• Maintain sample and literature room stocked and reorder inventory, as needed.
• Assist Omya's application lab with ordering sample ingredients.
• Assist in trade show coordination, including but, not limited to communication with Omya's Sales Department on what materials are needed and shipment of materials, etc.
• File paperwork, such as customer's purchasing orders, certificates of analysis, etc.
• Maintain integrity and accuracy of sample database.
• Maintain the sample area in a safe, orderly and neat fashion.
• Troubleshoot problems on a regular basis.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education  

• Technical diploma or degree in a related field. 

Experience 

• Entry level up to 7 years of experience in laboratory testing and related roles. 

• Experience in industrial minerals is a plus. 

Knowledge and skills 

• Strong attention to detail and data accuracy.  

• Good organizational and time management skills.  

• Ability to prioritize tasks independently within project scope.  

• Good communication skills with internal and external stakeholders.  

• Willingness to learn and contribute to continuous improvement. 

Other requirements   

• Excellent command of both oral and written local language, basic to good English is a minimum. Additional language skills are beneficial. 

Pay range: $22 - $26 hourly
