Workday Functional Developer

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Workday Functional Developer to support the configuration, enhancement, maintenance, and day-to-day operation of the organization's Workday platform. This role will focus primarily on Core HCM, Recruiting, Compensation, and Reporting, while providing ongoing production support to HR and business teams.

The Workday Functional Developer will be responsible for configuring and maintaining Workday business processes, troubleshooting functional issues, developing reports and calculated fields, and supporting enhancements across the platform. The position will also manage daily Workday help desk tickets, ensuring requests and production issues are reviewed, prioritized, tracked, and 
resolved in a timely manner.

The ideal candidate will bring 6+ years of hands-on Workday experience with strong functional knowledge of Core HCM, Recruiting, and Compensation. The role requires experience with business process configuration, custom and advanced reporting, calculated fields, security, testing, and production support.

The successful candidate will work closely with HR, Recruiting, Compensation, IT, and other business stakeholders to understand requirements, recommend solutions, and continuously improve Workday functionality and the overall user experience. Workday certification in Core HCM, Recruiting, Compensation, Reporting, or a related functional area is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities
• Configure, maintain, test, and enhance Workday Core HCM, Recruiting, and Compensation functionality.
• Configure and support business processes related to hiring, staffing, job changes, employee lifecycle events, recruiting, and compensation.
• Support Recruiting processes including job requisitions, candidate management, offers, pre-hire activities, and hiring workflows.
• Configure and support compensation plans, eligibility rules, compensation changes, and review processes.
• Develop and maintain Workday custom reports, advanced reports, matrix reports, dashboards, and calculated fields.
• Gather reporting requirements and develop accurate and effective reports for business and operational needs.
• Manage and maintain Workday help desk tickets on a daily basis, including troubleshooting, prioritization, resolution, documentation, and stakeholder communication.
• Perform root-cause analysis for recurring production issues and implement sustainable solutions.
• Configure and maintain business process approvals, condition rules, validations, notifications, and routing.
• Support and troubleshoot Workday security, including security groups, domain security, business process security, and reporting access.
• Partner with HR and business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate business needs into effective Workday configurations.

• Support regression testing, User Acceptance Testing (UAT), production deployments, and post-production validation.
• Support Workday semiannual releases, including impact analysis, testing, and adoption of applicable functionality.
• Maintain functional documentation, configuration documentation, test scripts, and support procedures.

Required Qualifications
• 6+ years of hands-on Workday experience in functional configuration, implementation, enhancement, and production support.
• Strong functional expertise in Workday Core HCM, Recruiting, and Compensation.
• Strong experience with Workday Reporting, including custom reports, advanced reports, matrix reports, dashboards, and calculated fields.
• Strong understanding of Workday business process configuration and security.
• Experience managing and resolving Workday production support and help desk tickets.
• Experience with regression testing, UAT, Workday releases, and production deployments.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and root-cause analysis skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively with technical and business stakeholders.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be able to work onsite in San Antonio, TX, five days per week.

Preferred Qualifications
• Workday certification(s) highly preferred, particularly in Core HCM, Recruiting, Compensation, Reporting, or related functional areas.
• Experience supporting Workday in a complex or multi-organization environment.
• Experience identifying opportunities to streamline and automate HR processes.
• Experience working directly with HR, Recruiting, and Compensation stakeholders.

Education

•  Bachelor’s degree preferred.
