Job Summary:
The Communications Specialist will play a key role in strengthening communication and engagement across RSI, with a primary focus on employee and internal communications. This position will help tell RSI’s story from the inside out by identifying engaging employee, project, and company stories and turning them into creative and compelling content.
A major focus of this role will be the development and ongoing management of an internal employee newsletter and other employee communications channels. The successful candidate will help generate story ideas, gather information from employees and project teams, write content, take and edit photos and video, and create basic graphics and layouts.
The position will also support other corporate communications and a variety of community outreach events, as needed. Supports the planning, coordination, and execution of community engagement initiatives and events that strengthen RSI’s visibility and promotes the organization's community outreach objectives.

The Communications Specialist should be comfortable reaching out to employees across the organization, identifying stories worth telling, managing multiple projects and deadlines, and taking an active role in the content creation and communications process.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage engaging employee communications that keep employees informed and connected to RSI’s people, projects, culture, and accomplishments.
- Lead the development and production of an internal employee newsletter, including identifying stories, gathering information, writing content, and coordinating design and distribution.
- Build relationships across the organization to identify story opportunities and interview employees and subject matter experts for employee spotlights, project updates, announcements, and other communications.
- Take and edit photographs and videos to support employee communications, company events, projects, and other corporate initiatives.
- Create basic graphics, layouts, presentations, and other visual communications consistent with RSI’s brand and messaging.
- Manage communications projects from concept through review, approval, and delivery while meeting deadlines and maintaining quality.
- Help improve internal communication channels and identify creative ways to share information and engage employees.
- Support employee engagement activities, company events, community outreach, conferences, and other Corporate Communications initiatives.
- Assist with external communications, marketing, and social media.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, English, or a related field, with relevant professional or internship experience preferred.
- Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
- An outgoing, creative, and self-motivated individual who enjoys interacting with people and identifying stories worth telling.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage multiple assignments and deadlines.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, and SharePoint. Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud applications, particularly Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and Premiere Pro, or comparable graphic design and video-editing software. Experience using Canva or similar template-based design tools is preferred.
