Overview
This role is responsible for leading Ingredients/Seasoning category across EMEA and India Foods, through developing, aligning, and executing category sourcing strategies. Business objectives will focus on year over year productivity, long-term compressible and value engineering pipelines, cost effective innovation to support PEP+ and portfolio transformation, business continuity planning, supply assurance, and supplier performance development to ensure best in class cost/quality/supply service levels.
The role will drive category transformation through development and execution of category strategies and strategic supplier relationships to deliver PEP+ commitments including major portfolio transformation, innovation, harmonisation and simplification, while developing and rolling-out new category business models.
The successful candidate will be appointed to either the Seasonings and Flavours portfolio or the Ingredients and Nuts portfolio, depending on business requirements and the individual’s experience and strengths.
Responsibilities
- Develop, align and execute multi-year category sourcing strategies, translating them into clear annual operating plan priorities and measurable value delivery and ensure delivery of short term AOP targets.
- Lead complex commercial and contractual negotiations and competitive sourcing events, using PepsiCo scale while enhancing quality, service, innovation and continuity of supply.
- Build a robust pipeline of productivity, value engineering, Design to Value, innovation and simplification initiatives, and convert opportunities into executable projects.
- Translate external market, supplier and technology insights into category strategies and share relevant intelligence with MSO and Operating Unit partners.
- Lead the category transformation agenda, including new business models, formula and portfolio harmonisation, simplification and cost-effective delivery of pep+ targets.
- Lead strategic supplier relationship and supplier development programmes to unlock innovation, cost effective PEP+ and portfolio transformation and improved consumer value.
- Establish and execute comprehensive category risk management, including supplier financial risk assessment, diversification and business continuity planning.
- Develop supplier performance to ensure best-in-class cost, quality, supply service levels, partnering closely with MSO procurement teams, R&D, SQA and Supply Chain.
- Lead and develop a diverse, remote team, setting clear priorities to execute category strategy and focus on team development.
- Seasonings & Flavors: Represent EMEA in global Seasonings governance, sharing best practices, supporting cross-sector leverage and aligning regional priorities with the global agenda.
- Ingredients and Nuts: Create, align and roll out a global strategy for the potato flakes and granules category, identifying key strategic levers, best practices, lift & shift opportunities, harmonization and VE opportunities, to create a multi-year productivity pipeline and running global RFP/leading negotiations to leverage PepsiCo’s global scale.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor or higher degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, Science, or other related field.
- Experience: 10+ years of relevant experience in direct material procurement. Depth of experience in seasonings, flavours or adjacent direct material categories is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to formulate and then translate strategies into plans that can be effectively executed.
- Ability to effectively operate in a complex, matrix organisation across multiple geographies and stakeholder groups, through collaboration and influencing.
- Strong track record in negotiation, strategic sourcing, contracting, supplier relationship management and delivery of productivity and cash-flow commitments.
- Strong financial and commercial acumen, including AOP planning, price forecasting, inflation management and business-case development.
- Ability to analyse complex data quickly and translate it into clear insights, decisions and executive-level recommendations.
- Proven people leadership and talent development experience, including leadership of remote or geographically dispersed teams.
- Excellent communication, collaboration and influencing skills, with credibility at senior internal and external levels.
- Strong digital acumen, including capability and confidence using next generation procurement and analytics digital tools.
