AHRI has an opening for a Communications Specialist. The Communications Specialist supports a variety of communications functions, including writing and distributing e-newsletters and press releases, managing social media and marketing campaigns, and assisting colleagues in developing and implementing a variety of communications and marketing plans.
Essential duties and responsibilities for this position are as follows:

The work location for this position is Arlington, VA. Subject to supervisor approval, AHRI employees are eligible to participate in AHRI's alternate workplace program after 90 days of employment and a 90-day appraisal with a rating of Meets Expectations.

- Write and proof press releases, newsletter articles, and marketing messages.
- Manage production and distribution of AHRI’s weekly and monthly newsletters.
- Manage the communications calendar and send messages on schedule.
- Manage e-newsletter subscriptions.
- Coordinate with AHRI staff and vendors on a variety of communications vehicles, including Statistical Releases, Industry Sector Newsletters, and Regulatory Compliance Notices.
- Monitor relevant portions of the company website to ensure proper functionality, make minor updates, and suggest improved features and content.
Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field from an nationally accredited college/university.
- Proficient in MS Office, with expert level use of Word.
- Familiarity with developing documents using Adobe Acrobat.
- Familiarity with content management systems.
