Job Summary: Provides tactical and operational leadership for the lumber products business at PRI’s Lumber Products industry. This position is accountable for managing manufacturing operations, business growth, safety compliance, quality standards, workforce development, and customer satisfaction to meet sales and net income objectives. The role also advances PRI's mission of equipping inmate workers with valuable job skills and work experience.

- Direct and oversee all plant operations, ensuring compliance with company policies, operational standards, and Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) rules and regulations while establishing a strong, collaborative relationships with institutional leadership, including the Warden and facility staff, to ensure effective operational coordination.
- Drive profitability by managing raw material costs, finished goods costing, operational expenses, and pricing strategies while ensuring products and services meet revenue and net income objectives.
- Manage inventory in a manner that ensures a high level of inventory accuracy, completing inventory cycle and full counts routinely with minimal adjustments needed. Ensure a system of on-site inventory management that provides FIFO for all categories of inventory.
- Lead the team in Accounts Receivables, overseeing the timely issuance of invoices, and the perpetual follow up with customers that are slow to pay, with a strong focus and attention toward private organizations.
- Drive Customer satisfaction by closely monitoring all open customer orders and communicating with the Customer and internal Customer Service as needed to create a Customer focused business.
- Work closely with Customer Service, the Bids Team, and the Sales Team to provide quotes and bids back to requesting Customers in less than 24 hours.
- Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing supervisory team responsible for supervising inmate workers and producing high-quality lumber products.
- Promote and maintain a culture of compliance by ensuring all applicable Federal, State, Local regulations, administrative codes, and company standards are perpetually maintained while resulting in minimal findings in any internal or external compliance audits. This also includes maintenance of a clean work environment in all areas of the operation.
- Strict oversight of the Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure consistent product quality and customer satisfaction.
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate production activities to meet customer requirements efficiently, effectively, and on time. This includes the creation and maintenance of a production work order system that aligns with customer orders or approved inventory stocking levels.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and operational excellence within existing processes, learning, teaching, and adapting Kaizen principles and when available partnering with organizational Kaizen and Lean leaders to implement process enhancements.
- Develop, monitor, and manage annual capital expenditure budgets to support achievement of financial and operational goals.
- Serve as the primary liaison with internal departments, customers, vendors, consultants, and other stakeholders to support business objectives and operational success.
- Lead business growth and supports new product development initiatives, including the planning and implementation of projects approved through the organization's business development process.
- Support the organization's mission by providing meaningful workforce development, vocational training, and skill-building opportunities for inmate workers.
Requirements
Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Operations, or a related field preferred. Five to ten 10 years of progressive leadership experience in manufacturing, operations, production, quality, or a related field. Profit & Loss (P&L) management experience required.
Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with employees, management, customers, vendors, and Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) personnel. Ability to interpret and communicate complex business, technical, and regulatory information.
Technical & Analytical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and other business applications, with the ability to become proficient in Microsoft Dynamics 365 within six months of hire. Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate operational and financial data, develop forecasts, manage inventory and production planning, and utilize reporting and business intelligence tools to support effective decision-making and operational performance.
Problem-Solving & Critical Thinking: Demonstrated ability to analyze complex operational, production, and personnel challenges, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions. Ability to plan, coordinate, and optimize production activities, workforce utilization, and equipment resources while managing multiple priorities and making sound decisions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Specialized Knowledge & Skills: Knowledge of manufacturing operations, quality management systems, budgeting, inventory control, production scheduling, safety programs, and regulatory compliance. Experience with continuous improvement methodologies, including Lean Manufacturing and Kaizen, is preferred.
Other Skills & Abilities: Proven leadership, organizational, and project management skills with the ability to train, develop, and motivate others. Ability to manage multiple priorities, adapt to changing business needs, and achieve operational and financial objectives. Must successfully complete all required FDC and PRI training programs.
