Culinary steward

Do you enjoy working with your hands, like getting things done and enjoy being part of a friendly and professional kitchen team? Then this could be your opportunity to join our Business Lounges at Schiphol.

For our Business Lounges (Aspire, Star Alliance and oneworld) in Amsterdam, we are looking for enthusiastic Dishwashers.

Behind every great hospitality experience is a strong team. As a Dishwasher, you support the kitchen team and make sure everything behind the scenes runs smoothly. From keeping crockery clean and available to receiving and organizing stock, your work is essential to the smooth operation of our daily service.

What will you do?

As a Dishwasher, you will be part of the Back of House team. You will work closely with the Culinary Lead and Culinary Senior, supporting them with the daily operations.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Loading and unloading the dishwasher and ensuring clean crockery and kitchen utensils are available when needed.

  • Keeping the kitchen, pantry and other Back of House areas clean, tidy and organized.

  • Replenishing crockery, materials and stock.

  • Collecting and preparing the required stock and products for the kitchen team.

  • Correctly separating and disposing of waste in accordance with applicable recycling procedures.

  • Supporting stock management and keeping storage areas organized.

  • Working in accordance with applicable hygiene regulations and the Food Safety Management System.

  • Supporting the kitchen team with food preparation and other tasks when required.

  • Working closely with colleagues in the Kitchen and Front of House teams to ensure smooth service.

  • Identifying when something is missing or not running as it should and reporting this promptly to the Culinary Lead.

  • Supporting other activities within the lounge when required.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for someone who is not afraid to roll up their sleeves, is reliable and enjoys working as part of a team. You do not need to be an experienced chef. A positive work attitude, motivation and a willingness to learn are just as important to us.

Ideally, you bring:

  • An interest in food, catering or hospitality.

  • Previous experience in a kitchen, hospitality or another fast-paced working environment is an advantage.

  • A clean and hygienic way of working, with an eye for detail.

  • A strong team spirit, while also being able to work independently.

  • The ability to work at a fast pace and get things done.

  • The ability to follow work instructions and procedures carefully.

  • A flexible and positive attitude.

  • Good communication skills.

  • Reliability and a strong sense of responsibility.

  • Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends and public holidays.

  • Availability to work between 05:30 and 22:30, 7 days a week.

Benefits

  • A dynamic role in an international working environment at Schiphol Airport.

  • A contract of 24 to 38 hours per week.

  • A salary between €2,760 and €3,365 gross per month, based on 38 hours per week and excluding allowances.

  • Allowances for evening, weekend and public holiday shifts, which can amount to up to €350 gross per month, depending on your work schedule.

  • Excellent primary and secondary employment conditions.

  • An attractive pension scheme.

  • 25 days of annual leave.

  • Travel allowance and various Schiphol employee benefits.

  • Paid training and an extensive onboarding programme.

  • Career development opportunities within Aspire Lounges and Swissport.

  • Additional benefits such as discounts at shops and restaurants at Schiphol Plaza, participation in collective insurance schemes and annual employee events.

You will work at a unique and international location at Schiphol, surrounded by colleagues and guests from all over the world. In this role, you are an important part of the team that ensures our guests enjoy a well-organized and high-quality lounge experience.

You will have the opportunity to gain experience in a professional hospitality environment and further develop your skills within the kitchen and our Business Lounges.

Are you someone who likes to roll up your sleeves and wants to work together with the team to make sure everything behind the scenes runs smoothly? We would love to hear from you!
