Custodial Manager

Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Custodial Working Manager to oversee daily custodial operations while actively participating in cleaning and facility maintenance activities. This hands-on leadership role is responsible for managing custodial staff, ensuring service quality, maintaining safety standards, and delivering exceptional customer service.

The ideal candidate will lead by example, provide daily direction to custodial personnel, monitor work quality, and ensure all contractual and customer requirements are met. This position requires strong leadership, organization, and communication skills, along with the ability to perform physical custodial duties as needed.

Requirements

Essential job Duties:

• Supervise and coordinate daily custodial operations and staff activities.
• Lead by example by performing custodial duties alongside team members when necessary.
• Conduct inspections to ensure facilities are maintained according to company and customer standards.
• Provide training, coaching, and guidance to custodial team members.
• Schedule and assign work tasks to ensure proper staffing and coverage.
• Monitor work performance and implement corrective actions as needed.
• Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies, equipment, and materials.
• Ensure all special cleaning requests are completed accurately and within required timelines.
• Conduct quality audits and submit reports to management.
• Promote and enforce all company safety policies and procedures.
• Ensure custodial equipment is properly maintained and operated safely.
• Assist with employee onboarding, training, disciplinary actions, and performance evaluations.
• Support payroll and administrative functions as needed.
• Respond promptly to customer concerns and service requests.
• Maintain positive relationships with customers, employees, and management.
• Support other departments and operations as business needs require.

Custodial responsibilities:

• Sweep, mop, dust, vacuum, and sanitize assigned areas.
• Clean restrooms, break rooms, offices, and common areas.
• Empty trash containers and dispose of waste appropriately.
• Replenish restroom and facility supplies.
• Operate floor cleaning equipment, buffers, scrubbers, and other custodial machinery.
• Clean windows, fixtures, walls, and high-touch surfaces.
• Maintain facility cleanliness and appearance at all times.

Qualifications:

• Previous custodial, janitorial, or facility maintenance experience required.
• Minimum 2-5 years of supervisory or management experience preferred.
• Strong leadership and team-building skills.
• Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work independently.
• Experience with inventory management, scheduling, and quality inspections.
• Knowledge of cleaning procedures, chemicals, and safety practices.

Requirements:

• Must successfully pass all company and customer-required training.
• Must pass required background checks, drug screenings, and alcohol testing.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and climb throughout the workday.
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Must be available for occasional overtime, weekends, or emergency call-outs as needed.
