Description

Lead Electrical Design Specialist – European Chiller Engineering Team

As a Lead Electrical Design Specialist you will be responsible for the electrical design and documentation of industrial chiller products for the European market. Working closely with Mechanical Designers, you will develop electrical schematics, wiring layouts, harness routing, control panel designs, and product documentation that support both regulatory compliance and efficient manufacturing.

This position combines hands-on electrical design with strong cross-functional collaboration. You will work in partnership with Mechanical Designers on the same product platforms, ensuring seamless integration between the electrical and mechanical aspects of the chiller design.

The successful candidate will have experience in a manufacturing environment and possess a strong understanding of electrical systems, panel design, wiring practices, and design-for-manufacturing principles.

How you will do it

  • Create and maintain electrical designs using Creo Parametric, Creo Schematics, and related 3D design tools.

  • Develop electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, harness routings, and detailed electrical documentation for chiller products.

  • Design and support electrical control panels, sheet metal enclosures, and associated electrical assemblies.

  • Work alongside Mechanical Designers to develop integrated product designs, ensuring electrical and mechanical systems function effectively together.

  • Produce point-to-point schematics, device wiring details, cable routing layouts, and installation documentation.

  • Create and maintain Bills of Material (BOMs) and engineering documentation to support manufacturing and service teams.

  • Ensure designs comply with applicable engineering standards, company design guidelines, and relevant European regulations.

  • Support engineering changes by investigating change requests, resolving production issues, and implementing design improvements.

  • Collaborate with manufacturing facilities, suppliers, sourcing teams, and engineering stakeholders to ensure designs can be efficiently manufactured and assembled.

  • Review existing products and propose design enhancements to improve quality, manufacturability, reliability, and cost efficiency.

  • Utilize Windchill PDM and SAP systems to manage design documentation, engineering changes, and material information.

  • Support prototype builds, production launches, and troubleshooting activities as required.

  • Review and check the accuracy and quality of electrical design work performed by other team members.

  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior designers and less experienced colleagues.

What we look for

Required Qualifications

  • Technical Diploma, Associate Degree, or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Design, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in electrical design, drafting, or product development within a manufacturing environment.

  • Strong experience with Creo Parametric and Creo Schematics.

  • Experience creating electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, control panel layouts, and harness routing designs.

  • Knowledge of electrical components, controls, sensors, relays, VFDs, and industrial electrical systems.

  • Experience with PDM systems, preferably Windchill.

  • Experience working with SAP or other ERP/MRP systems to manage BOMs and materials.

  • Communicates confidently and effectively with engineers, manufacturing teams, suppliers, and stakeholders.

  • Is comfortable speaking up, challenging assumptions, and driving solutions.

  • Demonstrates strong collaboration skills and enjoys working closely with multidisciplinary teams.

  • Has a genuine desire to learn and continuously expand their technical expertise.

  • Thrives in fast-paced, evolving environments where priorities can change.

  • Takes ownership of problems and follows through to resolution.

  • Can balance attention to detail with overall project objectives.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience within HVAC, refrigeration, cooling equipment, industrial machinery, or engineered-to-order products.

  • Knowledge of European electrical standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Experience with fully parametric routing methodologies.

  • Understanding of manufacturing processes including wiring, assembly, sheet metal fabrication, bending, welding, and production support.
