Hours: 12-hour shifts – 7:00 pm to 7:00 am
Location: St Joseph Medical Center, Kansas City, MO

As a Behavioral Health Registered Nurse., In this role, you'll provide compassionate, hands-on care to patients with acute mental health needs in a dynamic inpatient behavioral health setting. Working alongside an interdisciplinary care team, you'll play a key role in promoting patient safety, stabilization, and recovery.

Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but is not limited to):
- Provide direct nursing care to patients with acute mental and behavioral health needs in an inpatient setting
- Observe, monitor, and document patient behavior, mental status, and safety risks
- Assist with crisis intervention and de‑escalation to promote unit safety
- Collaborate with RNs, providers, and the interdisciplinary care team
- treat and educate patients about mental and medical conditions, and providing advice and emotional support to patients and/or family members
- Help manage therapeutic groups, psychiatric crisis intervention, seclusion and restraint of patients.
- Record patients medical histories and symptoms, and help to perform diagnostic tests and analyze results
- administer treatment and medications, and help with patient follow-up and rehabilitation.
- Consult patients and their families how to manage illness or injury, diet and exercise programs, and self-administration of medication and physical therapy.
Qualifications
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING
1. Must have current and valid State license as a Registered Nurse.2. Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.3. Working knowledge of Mental Health Laws and practice standards. 4. Working knowledge of interdisciplinary treatment team process, behavioral health programming and daily nursing functions for inpatient and outpatient behavioral health units. 5. Working knowledge of the continuum of care for behavioral health care.
