This is a fixed term position that may end one year after the employee’s start date.
Flexible work arrangements are available for this position, including the ability to work remotely within the United States. We prefer a candidate located in the greater Austin area as travel to campus for occasional in-person events, training, team meetings, activities, etc., may be required.
This position provides life/work balance with typically a 40-hour work week, and travel limited to training (e.g., conferences/courses).

Purpose
The Digital Content Specialist owns the day-to-day planning, creation, and growth of Enterprise Technology’s social media channels and recurring storytelling campaigns. This position develops audience-centered content and marketing approaches, creates original multimedia content, identifies and captures stories across campus, and uses performance insights to strengthen awareness of Enterprise Technology’s people, services, initiatives, and impact.
This is a hands-on role for a proactive content creator who can move projects from idea to execution. The specialist is expected to take ownership of digital channels, show initiative, bring forward fresh ideas, stay current with platform trends, and regularly work across campus to capture photography, short-form video, success interviews, events, and stories.
The Digital Content Specialist works closely with the Communications team to plan and deliver coordinated, accessible, and brand-aligned content across social media channels, podcast, and monthly newsletter contributions. The position contributes to content and marketing strategy while independently managing recurring campaigns, production workflows, and day-to-day publishing.
Responsibilities
Content Creation & Storytelling:
- Identify and tell stories that showcase Enterprise Technology's people, services, initiatives, and impact.
- Capture and create photography, video, written content, and multimedia assets for digital channels.
- Produce Employee Spotlights, success stories, service features, and other storytelling content.
- Create branded assets using Adobe Creative Cloud and Canva.
- Ensure content meets University branding, accessibility, and editorial standards.
Social Media Management & Audience Growth:
- Own the day-to-day management of Enterprise Technology's social media channels.
- Develop and execute content strategies that increase awareness, engagement, and audience growth.
- Maintain content calendars and publishing schedules.
- Create, publish, and optimize content across social platforms.
- Monitor trends and identify opportunities for new and engaging content.
Podcast & Employee Spotlight Programs:
- Manage the ET Talk podcast program and maintain a regular release schedule.
- Coordinate guest outreach, scheduling, interview preparation, recording, promotion, and distribution.
- Lead the Employee Spotlight program, including planning, interviews, publishing, and promotion.
- Collaborate with the student Multimedia Specialist to produce podcast and spotlight content.
Marketing & Campaign Support:
- Support marketing and awareness campaigns for Enterprise Technology services, projects, and initiatives.
- Develop content and promotional strategies aligned with communications plans.
- Collaborate with the Communications Specialist on service spotlights, campaigns, and newsletters.
- Help identify and promote success stories across Enterprise Technology.
Analytics, Planning & Program Management:
- Monitor content, social media, and campaign performance.
- Provide recommendations to improve engagement and audience growth.
- Maintain content workflows, editorial calendars, and documentation.
- Manage multiple projects and recurring programs simultaneously.
Additional Duties:
- Support campus and Enterprise Technology events through content creation, photography, promotion, and on-site coordination as needed.
- Participate in special projects and initiatives that support Enterprise Technology communications, marketing, and engagement goals.
- Perform other related functions as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations, digital communications, digital media, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience managing organizational or brand social media channels and developing content strategies that support audience engagement and growth.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating proof of social media campaigns, digital storytelling, audience engagement, photography, short-form video, and written content across multiple channels.
- Experience creating and editing digital content, including photography, short-form video, graphics, and written content for social and digital platforms.
- Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud and Canva for content creation, photo editing, video editing, and graphic design.
- Strong writing, editing, interviewing, and storytelling skills, with the ability to tailor content for different audiences and channels.
- Experience using social media analytics and audience insights to evaluate performance and inform content decisions.
- Ability to independently manage projects, prioritize competing deadlines, and move work from concept through publication.
- Knowledge of accessibility best practices for digital content, including captions, alternative text, readable graphics, and accessible copy.
- Excellent organizational, communication, collaboration, and project management skills.
- Ability to work regularly on campus to capture content and transport photography or video equipment.
Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience producing or managing a podcast, video series, interview series, or other video production programs.
- Experience working in higher education, technology, and a large organization.
- Experience contributing to integrated marketing or communications campaigns.
- Experience coordinating, directing, or collaborating with student employees, videographers, designers, photographers, or other creative contributors.
- Familiarity with social media management, scheduling, analytics, email marketing, content management, and project management tools.
- Experience conducting interviews and developing stories from subject matter experts, faculty, staff, or organizational leaders.
Salary Range
$45,900 + depending on qualifications
Working Conditions
- Hybrid work environment, with a combination of on‑site and remote work; position requires residence in or the ability to commute to the Austin, Texas area.
- Frequent movement across campus to photograph, record, interview, and cover events or team activities.
- Repetitive use of a keyboard and creative software tools.
- Occasional lifting of equipment (up to 25 pounds) for photography or video needs.
Work Shift
- Monday – Friday, flexible between 7am-6pm
