Description
Landscape Projects Inc. is seeking an experienced Landscape Designer to join our team in the Bethesda, Maryland area. This is a unique opportunity for a talented landscape professional who enjoys designing exceptional outdoor environments, developing meaningful client relationships, and guiding projects from the earliest conversation through construction and completion.
This is a highly client-facing role. The successful candidate will meet directly with homeowners, understand their vision and priorities, develop creative design solutions, establish project scope and investment, and confidently guide clients through the design and decision-making process. Once a project moves into construction, the designer remains actively involved, maintaining the client relationship and helping ensure the original vision is carried through to completion.
We are looking for someone who can combine strong residential design experience with the interpersonal and business skills needed to build client confidence, develop opportunities into successful projects, and see their vision fully realized.
Key Responsibilities
· Meet with prospective and existing clients to understand their goals, lifestyle, aesthetic preferences, priorities, and budget
· Develop strong client relationships and serve as a trusted advisor throughout the life of the project
· Create high-end residential landscape designs, including gardens, pools, terraces, outdoor living spaces, structures, water features, and planting environments
· Evaluate site conditions and identify opportunities and constraints that influence the design
· Develop project scope, budgets, estimates, and proposals that align design vision, constructability, and client expectations
· Present design concepts, scope, and investment clearly and confidently, guiding clients from concept through project approval
· Take ownership of projects from initial consultation through design, estimating, construction, and completion
· Collaborate closely with project management, production, and field teams to ensure design intent and client expectations are maintained during construction
· Respond to field conditions and provide design direction as projects evolve
· Identify opportunities to enhance project scope and provide additional value to clients
· Manage multiple client relationships and projects at various stages
· Contribute to LPI’s continued growth through exceptional design, client service, and development of new project opportunities
Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture, Landscape Design, Horticulture, or a related field preferred
· 5+ years of experience in high-end residential landscape design, landscape architecture, design-build, or a related field
· Strong understanding of residential landscape design, construction methods, materials, and project costs
· Experience developing project estimates, budgets, and proposals
· Proven ability to build relationships with discerning residential clients and guide them from initial consultation through project approval
· Strong communication and presentation skills with the confidence to discuss design vision, project scope, budget, and investment
· Ability to balance creativity with constructability, client expectations, and project objectives
· Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple client relationships and projects from design through construction and completion
· Collaborative approach and ability to work effectively with project managers, craftsmen, field teams, and other design professionals
