POSITION OVERVIEW:
Join Back to Nature as a Landscape Sales Designer. This is a client-facing sales role for an experienced landscape professional who combines a strong design sensibility with the ability to build relationships, understand client needs, and develop opportunities into successful projects. The Landscape Sales Designer will lead the sales process from initial consultation through proposal and project development, using their landscape knowledge and creative expertise to develop compelling solutions for each client. This role requires strong communication, follow-through, and the ability to confidently present ideas, develop scopes and budgets, and guide clients toward a decision. The Landscape Sales Designer will collaborate closely with our Design, Construction, and Maintenance teams to ensure a seamless transition from sale to execution. This position offers the opportunity to earn commission based on project development and closed business.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Act as a key design partner to the Designer/Sales Lead, contributing to client discovery, refining project goals, and developing design solutions based on client preferences, budgets, and site conditions.
Develop comprehensive, creative landscape designs that integrate aesthetics, functionality, sustainability, and budget constraints.
Creating detailed plans and drawings, either by hand or using computer-aided design (CAD) software.
Lead design development from conceptual design through construction documentation and implementation.
Prepare take-offs, estimates, and material specifications.
Select appropriate plants, trees, and materials based on climate, soil conditions, maintenance needs, and desired aesthetics.
Coordinate with landscape architects, engineers, contractors, gardeners, and other professionals to execute designs.
Conduct site visits and field coordination to ensure design intent is met.
Adjust designs as needed to accommodate client feedback, site conditions, or regulatory requirements.
Ensure all work complies with applicable codes, regulations, and industry standards.
Research and coordinate necessary permits, zoning variances, and township/municipal approvals required for project execution, including submitting applications and responding to review comments.
Stay current with trends, materials, and best practices in landscape design and construction.
Take ownership of assigned projects while collaborating effectively within a design team.
Support and mentor junior designers as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Degree in Landscape Architecture, Landscape Design, Horticulture, or a related field
Landscape Architecture license is a plus
Experience with Lumion and other 3D visualization, rendering, or presentation software is a plus
3-5 years of professional experience in landscape
Strong proficiency in CAD software and design presentation tools
Experience developing projects from concept through construction administration (preferred)
Knowledge of site planning, grading, and planting design
Familiarity with permitting processes and agency submittal requirements for residential landscape and site work is a plus.
Strong understanding of plant materials, growth requirements, and maintenance
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Client-focused mindset with strong customer service skills
Ability to work independently while thriving in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
