About the Opportunity
Join our ophthalmology team in Stoneham, conveniently located on Main Street (Route 28), just off Route 95, with free on-site parking. Our Stoneham location provides both Comprehensive Ophthalmology and Retina services, giving you the opportunity to work alongside experienced providers and clinical professionals while gaining exposure to a variety of ophthalmic specialties.

This is a full-time, Monday-Friday position with a consistent 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. schedule and no weekends.

About the Role
Under the direction of the Chief Ophthalmic Technician and Service/Site Manager, the Certified Ophthalmic Assistant provides clinical and technical support throughout the outpatient eye care experience. In this role, you will:

-Prepare patients for ophthalmic examinations and procedures
-Perform a variety of ophthalmic testing and clinical procedures
-Support providers during patient examinations and care
-Utilize ophthalmic equipment and technology as part of the patient care process
-Work collaboratively with providers, technicians, and other members of the care team
-Help create an efficient, welcoming, and patient-centered experience for every patient

This is an opportunity to build on your ophthalmic experience while working within a supportive team environment and gaining exposure to both Comprehensive Ophthalmology and Retina.

 

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• This role requires the listed educational qualification; experience cannot be substituted for the degree requirement.

Licenses and Certifications

• Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) certification through the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO) required and must be maintained in good standing.

Experience

• At least one year of experience working as an Ophthalmic Assistant in a supervised clinical setting required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Working knowledge of ophthalmic terminology, clinical procedures, and diagnostic testing.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with patients, families, providers, and members of the care team.
• Commitment to providing compassionate, patient-centered care.
• Ability to stay organized, prioritize responsibilities, and adapt in a busy clinical environment.
• Comfortable working both independently and as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team.
• Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and problem-solving skills.
• Familiarity with electronic health records and standard computer applications, including Microsoft Office.
