Location: Kleinmachnow (Berlin region)
Contract: Marginal employment (Minijob, up to €603/month).
Nature of work: On-call
Availability: Short-notice availability (calls typically between 06:00 AM and 07:00 AM and weekends)
Rate: Competitive daily/hourly rate for days worked

About this role and working model:
We are seeking a reliable, adaptable, and caring Substitute Boarding Mentor to join our Boarding Team at BBIS Berlin Brandenburg International School.
This position is offered under a flexible framework agreement for on-call assignments. You will step in on short notice to cover for absent boarding staff, ensuring uninterrupted, high-quality care, supervision, and operational support for our international boarding students.
This role is ideal for qualified educators, social pedagogues, certified tutors, or youth workers looking for a flexible, high-impact role in a dynamic, international community.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING ACTIVITIES
Everyday Support: Support boarding students in their daily routines, foster a warm, inclusive environment, and maintain high standards of student conduct.
Daytime Supervision: Care for and attend to boarders who remain in the boarding house during school hours due to illness or schedule exemptions.
Child Safeguarding: Actively promote student safety, wellbeing, and emotional development in strict compliance with BBIS Child Safeguarding Policies.
Activities to support other boarding staff to ensure the safe and secure operation of BBIS Boarching School:
Attend to boarders who are absent from school.
Maintain records of illness, referrals, and appointments, and pass on relevant information to boarding staff, parents and medical staff, ensuring REACH is updated.
Liaise with the cleaning and maintenance team to ensure that the boarding house is a clean, tidy and homely environment.
Ensure boarding is consistently presented to a high standard and assist with updating notice boards and displays.
Receive and store deliveries, including student provisions and ensure the appropriate stock levels in kitchens.
Monitor visitors and students signing-in and out from school.
Support the activities programme alongside other staff members
Support the boarding students in their everyday lives throughout their time boarding at BBIS.
YOUR QUALIFICATION
Education: A university degree in Pedagogy, Social Work, Education, or a related field is preferred.
Language Skills: C2 / Native-level fluency in English. German proficiency is a valuable asset.
Flexibility: Proven ability to respond promptly to short-notice assignments, including call-ins between 06:00 a.m. and 07:00 a.m.
Relevant Experience: Demonstrated experience working with teenagers and young adults (ages 15–18) in formal educational or residential settings (e.g., secondary schools, certified tutoring, or recognized youth work
Personal Qualities: Excellent teamwork, emotional resilience, proactive initiative, creative problem-solving, and a positive "can-do" attitude.
Intercultural Passion: Genuine enthusiasm for intercultural exchange, student development, and international education.
Work Permit and Residence: Valid German work/residence permit and registered German address (Meldeadresse) mandatory at the time of application.
