Job Description:

  • Influence Safety at Scale – Partner with leaders across private hospitals and residential aged care services, helping shape the safety culture of one of Australia's largest and most respected healthcare organisations.
  • Diverse, High-Impact Work – No two days are the same. Gain exposure to complex healthcare environments, leading incident investigations, risk management, audits and continuous improvement initiatives across multiple Victorian sites.
  • Grow Your WHS Career – Join a collaborative and experienced Health & Safety team where you'll have access to professional development, mentoring, and genuine career progression within a national healthcare organisation committed to safety excellence.

For more than 165 years, St Vincent's has been delivering exceptional healthcare and aged care across Australia. Today, more than 30,000 dedicated people work together across hospitals, aged care, community services and research to improve lives and help shape a better and fairer health and aged care system.

Our people are united by one purpose—to provide compassionate, high-quality care while creating healthier communities and safer workplaces.

We're looking for a passionate Work Health & Safety (WHS) professional who wants to make a genuine difference.

If you're looking for a role where you can influence organisational culture, partner with leaders and improve the safety and wellbeing of thousands of healthcare workers, we'd love to hear from you.

About the Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Work Health & Safety (WHS) Partner to join our established Queensland
Health & Safety team at the QLD Care Services Division. This is far more than a compliance role.

You'll be a trusted advisor to operational leaders, working alongside teams across St Vincent's private hospitals and residential aged care services to strengthen safety culture, improve risk management and support continuous improvement.

Every day you'll have the opportunity to influence decision-making, coach leaders, solve complex safety challenges and contribute to creating safer workplaces for those delivering life-changing healthcare.

Based at our Queensland Group Office, you’ll regularly travel across multiple St Vincent's Hospital Brisbane sites, providing variety, professional growth and exposure to diverse healthcare environments.

About the Role
Reporting to the WHS Manager, you will act as a trusted advisor and business partner, primarily
providing expert WHS support across community, residential and care service environments. You will work closely with leaders at all levels to ensure compliance with legislative requirements while implementing practical solutions that support safe, high-quality care delivery.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Partner with Care Services leaders to proactively identify, assess and manage workplace health and safety risks across a complex healthcare environment.
  • Provide expert advice and practical guidance on WHS legislation, risk management and industry best practice.
  • Support the implementation and continuous improvement of St Vincent’s WHS Management System.
  • Lead and support incident investigations, ensuring effective corrective and preventative actions are implemented.
  • Conduct workplace inspections, audits, risk assessments and assurance activities to strengthen safety performance.
  • Analyse incident, injury and hazard trends to identify opportunities for risk reduction and continuous improvement.
  • Facilitate consultation and engagement with Health and Safety Representatives (HSRs), WHS Committees and operational teams.
  • Deliver WHS training, coaching and awareness initiatives to build capability and foster a positive safety culture.
  • Support accreditation, regulatory and audit activities to ensure ongoing compliance and organisational readiness.
  • Develop and maintain WHS documentation, including risk assessments, procedures, reports and investigation findings.
  • Build trusted relationships with leaders and frontline teams to influence safe work practices and positive safety outcomes.
  • Collaborate across healthcare and aged care services to improve workplace safety, wellbeing and organisational performance.

About You
