Description
At BrandSafway, we know our employees are our greatest asset, which is why we give them the tools, training, and resources to be successful. Come join our growing team!
About the role
We are hiring a Director of Sales, Commercial to lead commercial construction growth across
BrandSafway's Western Region. This is a senior, visible role. You will report directly to the SVP of the West, lead six Area Sales Managers, and own the commercial growth strategy for one of the largest regions in the company. You will shape where we compete, which customers we pursue, and how we resource our target markets. You will present results and actions in our monthly Regional MOR to the CEO and CFO. If you know the Western commercial construction market, have the relationships
to prove it, and want to build a sales organization that wins, this role is built for you.
Why this role matters now:
We have aggressive growth goals for the West, and commercial construction is central to that plan.
You will have real authority to shape strategy, priorities, and team structure. You will work alongside operators who own results and expect sales to drive the business, not report on it.
What you will do
- Growth strategy and market coverage Build and own the West commercial growth strategy, grounded in market data, customer relationships, and project pipeline.
- Identify target markets, target customers, and project types where we should win more, including underserved and emerging markets.
- Make the case for resources. Recommend
- where to add sales coverage, where to shift effort, and where to invest.
- Own pipeline health and forecast accuracy for commercial work across the region.
- Partner with pricing and operations to protect margin and win work we can execute safely and profitably.
- Lead and build the sales team
- Lead six Area Sales Managers and hold them accountable to clear targets for pipeline, bookings, price, and customer growth.
- Coach managers to lead their own teams.
- Build sales leaders who are ready for bigger roles.
- Recruit proven sellers with strong market relationships to expand coverage in priority markets.
- Set a consistent sales cadence: account plans, pipeline reviews, call planning, and CRM discipline.
- Shorten time to productivity for new hires through structured onboarding and field coaching.
- Drive change and alignment.
- Lead change in how we sell. Move the team from reactive bidding to proactive, relationship-driven pursuit.
- Work hand in hand with Area Directors and Branch Managers so sales and operations pursue the same priorities.
- Partner with the Industrial Director of Sales on shared customers, cross-selling, and consistent standards across the region.
- Bring product and service experts into pursuits so customers see the full value of our offering.
- Executive reporting and accountability.
- Present commercial results, actions, and outlook in the monthly Regional MOR to the CEO and CFO.
- Translate data into clear decisions: what is working, what is not, and what we are changing.
- Track the impact of growth initiatives and adjust quickly when results fall short.
- Customer leadership -Build and grow executive relationships with general contractors, developers, and owners across the West.
- Lead strategic pursuits and key account conversations at the senior executive level.
- Represent BrandSafway in the market and in industry associations where our customers lead.
What success looks like
In your first 12 months, you will:
- Deliver a West commercial growth plan within 90 days, with target markets, target accounts, and resourcing recommendations.
- Build a development plan for each Area
- Sales Manager and strengthen bench strength across the team.
- Accelerate commercial growth with a stronger qualified pipeline and bookings that support our aggressive growth goals.
- Install a consistent sales operating rhythm and CRM discipline across every area.
- Earn credibility in the MOR as a clear, reliable voice on commercial performance and outlook.
- Add sellers in priority markets where we are under-covered.
What you bring
Requirements:
- 10 or more years in commercial construction sales or business development, with at least 5 years leading sales managers or multi-market teams.
- Deep knowledge of the commercial construction market: how projects are won, how general contractors buy, and how the bid and award cycle works.
- Established relationships with general contractors, developers, or owners.
- A track record of building and executing growth plans that delivered measurable revenue and margin results.
- Experience leading through change: restructuring coverage, raising performance standards, or building a sales process where one did not exist.
- Comfort presenting to and influencing.
- senior executives, including C-suite leaders inside and outside the company.
- Strong command of pipeline management,
- forecasting, and CRM tools such as Salesforce.
- Preferred
- Strong market knowledge and relationships in Western U.S. markets.
- Experience with a scaffolding or access competitor, a general contractor, or a construction services provider such as elevators, cranes, or MEP, serving the same customer base we serve.
- Experience across a range of commercial project types, such as healthcare, education, multifamily, and large mixed-use.
- Experience managing a large, geographically spread team.
- Bachelor's degree in business, construction management, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
- Available for travel up to 50% of the time.
Who you are
- A change leader.
- You see what needs to change, make the call, and bring people with you.
- High energy and presence in the field. You lead from job sites and customer offices, not from a dashboard.
- Known in the market. Customers take your call because you have earned their trust.
- A builder of leaders. You measure your success by how well your managers perform without you.
- Steady and transparent. You report the facts, good or bad, and come with a plan.
- Commercially sharp. You chase profitable work we can execute safely, not volume at any price.
- A strong partner. You win with operations, not around them.
