About this Opportunity
Applying biochemistry and protein design for cancer immunotherapy. We will use protein design to systematically modulate T cells to improve immune cell behavior in the context of cancer immunotherapy.
Major duties and responsibilities:
Designing de novo proteins against various biological targets: 60%
Use computational pipelines including RF Diffusion, Protein MPNN, and RF3 to design binders against cancer and immune targets (including phosphatases, transcription factors, and others that are therapeutically relevant). This will be done using computational tools that are developed at the Institute for Protein Design. The candidates are expected to conduct these work on site with the desktops that are provided.
Understanding the immune cell biology behind the chosen targets: 20%
Reading and discussing the literature regarding the chosen cancer and immune targets and how they are relevant in cancer immunotherapy context.
Presenting and participating in group meetings in the lab: 10%
In a weekly group meeting, the candidate is expected to participate by asking questions and presenting their work to the lab.
Maintaining and writing protocols for computational pipelines: 10%
For each computational work they do (RF diffusion, MPNN), they are required to document the workflow/pipelines so that other students/members in the lab can understand and use it for future design work.
