Summary
The HR Assistant supports the Human Resources department with recruiting, onboarding, records management, and employee programs. This role helps ensure a smooth, compliant hiring process and positive experience for new and current employees.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Post job openings and screen applications for assigned positions
- Participate in interviews alongside experienced HR staff and, after completing training, conduct initial phone screens independently
- Schedule interviews and coordinate with hiring managers on feedback and next steps
- Complete reference checks and pre-employment background screenings
- Coordinate pre-employment testing as required
- Manage candidate communications, including status updates, offer letters, and decline notices
- Coordinate the onboarding process for new hires, including paperwork, employment eligibility verification, and system access
- Prepare materials for and set up new hire orientation
- Assist new hires with benefit enrollment and track enrollment deadlines
- Maintain accurate, confidential personnel files in line with company policy and legal requirements
- Enter and maintain employee data in the HRIS
- Track introductory period evaluations and remind managers of due dates
- Coordinate employee recognition programs and appreciation events
- Support annual benefit open enrollment
- Respond to employee HR questions, referring complex matters as appropriate
- Perform other duties as assigned by the HR Manager
- Assumes other activities and responsibilities from time to time as directed at the discretion of the Lead Team. Also, perform other administrative duties as deemed necessary by Lead Team.
Requirements
Qualification, Education, Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in human resources, business, or a related field preferred
Skills & Abilities:
- Strong organization and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Clear, professional written and verbal communication with candidates, employees, and managers
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Friendly, welcoming approach to new hires and candidates
Attendance Standards
Punctual and dependable for assigned and confirmed work schedules
Physical/Mental Demands
- Work requires the ability to lift objects weighing up to 20 pounds
- Work requires the ability to carry objects weighing up to 20 pounds.
- Work requires the ability to sit +/- 90% of the time.
- Work requires the ability to stoop and bend, to reach, and grab with arms and hands; manual dexterity and the ability to communicate with others.
- Work requires ability to proofread and check documents for accuracy.
- Work requires ability to use a keyboard and view a computer monitor to enter words or data.
- OSHA personal exposure risk category II (tasks that involve no exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues, but employment may require performing unplanned category I tasks).
- Airborne personal exposure risk category I (Possible exposure of the healthcare worker to patients capable of transmitting M. tuberculosis). Universal precautions will be adhered to at all times.
Environmental/Working Conditions
Normal office environment. Part-time position, approximately 24–28 hours per week, with up to 30 hours during peak periods. Schedule flexibility is required to support new hire orientation sessions.
