A Foreman Carpenter leads on-site carpentry crews, coordinates daily construction tasks, and performs hands-on carpentry while managing project safety, quality, and schedules.
Key Information:
- Hours: Project dependent; minimum 40 hours per week, with overtime necessary during the busy season (April-October)
- Hourly rate is dependent on experience.

Job Description:
- Direct, mentor, and supervise apprentice and journeyman carpenters, as well as general laborers
- Perform skilled rough and finish carpentry, wood framing, exterior/interior finishing, and concrete formwork alongside the crew.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and project specifications according to regional standards.
- Ensure strict adherence to the Alberta Building Code and conduct regular hazard assessments and safety meetings.
- Track project schedules, review subcontractor work, and communicate project updates with Site Superintendents.
- Able to lift up to 50lbs.
- Comfortable working at heights.
- Ability to work in adverse weather conditions.
- Manual dexterity and ability to use carpentry tools safely.
Experience and Certification Requirements:
- Valid Journeyman Carpenter Certificate (Red Seal preferred) or equivalent extensive supervisory carpentry experience.
- 2 to 5 years of proven experience in commercial, industrial, or residential construction, including previous leadership or lead-hand roles.
- CSTS 2020, and WHMIS 2015 are required.
- Fall Protection & Rescue, Aerial Platform, Confined Spaces, Rigging/Hoisting and Hand.
- Signals, and First Aid/CPR certification would be an asset.
- A valid Class 5 driver's license, and a clean driver's abstract valid within 30 days of employment is required.
- Proficient English Language skills required.
- A reliable means of transportation is required.
Education: Journeyman Carpenter Certificate(Red Seal preferred) or equivalent is required.
