Job Description
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coaching (55%)
Assist fellow Men’s Basketball coaches with on court coaching, including practices, workouts and games.
Work with assigned position group as directed by Head Coach, Men’s Basketball
Student-Athlete Development (20%)
Serve as a mentor to men’s basketball student-athletes to encourage personal and professional growth.
Oversee student-athlete conduct.
Work with administrative staff to enhance men’s basketball community relationships and expose student-athletes to community service projects.
Recruiting (10%)
Assist in the identification and relationship cultivation of potential Men’s Basketball recruits.
Work closely with fellow Men’s Basketball coaches to plan and execute recruiting plans.
Emphasize retention among existing men’s basketball student-athletes.
Alumni Relations (10%)
Establish relationships with former men’s basketball student-athletes with the intention of maximizing their engagement with the program.
Foster donations to men’s basketball sport-specific foundation account.
Work with administrative staff to ensure former men’s basketball student-athletes are welcomed back to campus for games and reunion events.
Other Duties as Assigned (5%)
Performs other duties as assigned by Men’s Basketball Head Coach and Vice President, Athletics & Recreation.
The employee shall at all times conduct themselves in an ethical manner in association with the standards set forth by NCAA and Southland Conference Bylaws and University policies and procedures.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree
Two or more years’ experience in college or professional basketball as a player, coach or administrator.
Knowledge of and commitment to NCAA compliance policies and procedures
Proven ability to develop, establish and sustain relationships with student-athletes, coaches, administration and various constituents.
Excellent administrative, organizational and proven ability to recruit prospective student-athletes.
Ability to work nights, weekends and travel as needed.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's degree
Experience as an NCAA men’s basketball student-athlete, coach or administrator.
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Firm understanding of current technology and ability to use technology to advance the program.
