At our Sterilisation Validation Department in Medtronic, plc, we focus on product quality excellence and providing exemplary service to the businesses & operating units we support. Our Sterilisation Quality Engineers anticipate and respond to changing sterility requirements, provide strategic leadership to influence the global sterility environment to benefit the patients we serve and are directly involved in building the organisation in support of Sterility Assurance assessments for New Product Development and site transfers.

A Day in The Life of

• Work on New Product Development as part of cross functional team to develop a sterilisation strategy in compliance to all regulatory standards.
• Working with NPD engineers to design protocols to ensure that new products/ product packaging changes are adequately tested with respect to biological/sterilisation requirements to guarantee compliance to all regulatory standards.
• Technical mentor and support for Sterilisation validation engineers
• Preparing protocols and reports for validation of new products / product packaging changes / SCCs / requalification activities of sterilisation processes.
• Liaise with manufacturing and R&D engineers to obtain test samples.
• Liaise with test laboratories, internal and external, to issue test details for testing required, to perform testing and to receive test results.
• Ensuring that all required testing is completed in timely manner and reports approved to meet project timelines.
• Support manufacturing on any sterilisation product related issues, and sterilisation and/or microbiological non-conformances
• External auditing of contract test laboratories and sterilisation facilities.
• Reviewing regulatory body standards to ensure compliance to all requirements and analysing potential gaps to standard updates
• Supporting the Regulatory Affairs department in preparing submissions to notified bodies and addressing any questions regarding these submissions.
• Representing Medtronic in audits of sterilisation area performed by internal auditors or notified bodies.
• Lead complex and time sensitive investigations

Key Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree (Level 8 NFQ) in a relevant technical discipline (e.g., Engineering, Science) with a minimum of 4 years relevant experience. 
• Significant experience of sterilisation validation activities and microbiology in medical device or other regulated industry.
• Be focused on patient and customer, set high standards and install operational excellence.
• You are technically orientated and can work independently under limited supervision to determine and develop this best approach.
• You are a dynamic team player and leader and can work effectively and proactively on cross-functional teams with a high level of enthusiasm and motivation. 
• Knowledge of Standards, regulatory requirements and guidelines is an advantage.
• Strong communication, organizational, presentation and project management skills are desirable.

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).
