Description
About Skild AI
Skild AI is building the world's first general purpose robotic intelligence — systems that are robust and adapt to unseen scenarios without failing. The core belief is that massive scale through data-driven machine learning is the key to unlocking these capabilities and enabling the widespread deployment of robots in the real world.
The team spans new graduates and domain experts, and values demonstrated ability and attitude over credentials. Skild is looking for people who are eager to explore uncharted territory and contribute to work that has not been done before.
The Opportunity
Skild AI is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to create and fabricate robotic systems for teleoperation, human-robot interaction, and data collection. You will design, develop, and test electro-mechanical hardware systems including haptic devices, exoskeletons, and related systems, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the highest standards of performance, reliability, and efficiency.
What You’ll Do
- • Design, prototype, and test hardware systems for human-robot interaction
- • Create detailed CAD models and drawings for mechanical components, jigs, fixtures, and tools
- • Utilize 3D printing and rapid prototyping techniques to develop and validate hardware prototypes
- • Collaborate with software and mechanical engineers to integrate hardware with software and mechanical designs
- • Conduct tests and simulations to ensure functionality and reliability of hardware systems
- • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware issues and provide technical support through the product development lifecycle
- • Prepare documentation for hardware designs, specifications, and test procedures
You Should Have
- • BS, MS, or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- • Proven experience in hardware design and prototyping spanning both electrical and mechanical components
- • Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks, Onshape, or equivalent
- • Experience with Arduino or similar platforms for electronic prototyping and control systems
- • Familiarity with 3D printing and rapid prototyping techniques
- • Strong understanding of electronic components, circuit design, and signal processing
- • Experience with testing and debugging hardware systems
- Nice to Have
- • Experience with robotics, teleoperation, or digital twin systems
- • Experience with human-centered considerations for robot design
- • Experience with actuator and sensor design for high-performance haptic devices
- • Experience with high-speed control systems including low-level firmware
Compensation
Base Salary: $100,000 - $300,000, depending on experience.
