Job Description:

Production Supervisor

Location: Grand Rapids, MI
Schedule: Full-Time | 1st Shift | Monday – Friday
Facility: Tubes & Cores
Team: Approximately 25 Associates

Greif is seeking a Production Supervisor to lead a team of approximately 25 associates at our Grand Rapids Tubes & Cores facility. This role oversees daily production activities for a smaller, less complex, and/or single-line operation while supporting safety, quality, productivity, delivery, colleague development, and continuous improvement.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on manufacturing leader with experience supervising production teams, applying Lean Manufacturing principles, and resolving operational challenges in a fast-paced environment.

What You’ll Do

You will provide day-to-day leadership for the production team, monitor performance, coordinate shift activities, and address issues that affect safety, quality, productivity, or delivery. You will also help create a culture of accountability, teamwork, personal safety, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise daily activities for a smaller, less complex, and/or single-line production operation.
• Monitor associate productivity and work schedules to support efficient operations.
• Lead shift meetings, confirm production progress, and respond to delays.
• Implement production plans, performance criteria, and performance management systems.
• Develop and implement group improvement plans using Lean Manufacturing principles.
• Ensure associates understand their roles and responsibilities within the team and Greif.
• Encourage joint problem-solving, personal safety, and individual development.
• Implement and enforce applicable safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Maintain knowledge of production processes and equipment.
• Troubleshoot operational issues and coordinate appropriate solutions.
• Support Greif’s mission and values and contribute to the success of the business.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What We’re Looking For

• High school diploma or equivalent and typically 5–8 years of relevant manufacturing or production experience.
• Experience leading production associates or teams.
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement, or similar operational excellence practices.
• Strong understanding of production operations and processes.
• Excellent supervisory, leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Strong attention to detail and time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
