This role involves supporting a male participant with complex support needs who presents with high behaviours of concern, including physical aggression and property damage.

We are looking for confident, patient and proactive support workers with experience in mental health support and complex behaviours. • Support the participant with complex mental health needs.

  • Respond calmly and professionally to behaviours of concern, including physical aggression and property damage.

  • Recognise potential triggers and implement proactive strategies to minimise escalation and reduce risks to the participant, staff and property.

  • Implement strategies in accordance with the participant’s Positive Behaviour Support Plan (PBSP) and other relevant support plans.

  • Apply appropriate de-escalation techniques to support safety and wellbeing.

  • Follow restrictive practice requirements, relevant policies and procedures, and applicable authorisation requirements.

  • Complete incident reports and maintain accurate support documentation.

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure consistent, safe and high-quality support.

  • Maintain professional boundaries and promote positive outcomes for the participant.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Previous experience in disability support, particularly supporting individuals with complex needs and high behaviours of concern.

  • Experience supporting individuals with mental health conditions.

  • Experience responding to physical aggression and property damage.

  • A good understanding of positive behaviour support and de-escalation strategies.

  • The ability to remain calm, patient and professional in challenging situations.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to follow support plans and workplace procedures.

  • The ability to identify potential triggers and respond proactively to minimise risks.

  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team, particularly during 2:1 support.

  • Flexibility to work across the required day and night roster.

  • Current NDIS Worker Screening clearance and other relevant clearances as required.

  • A commitment to person-centred care, participant safety and professional boundaries.

Highly Desirable

  • Maybo training, particularly in behaviour management, de-escalation and safely responding to behaviours of concern.

  • A good understanding of restrictive practices, including their appropriate and lawful use in accordance with relevant legislation, policies and procedures.

  • Training or experience in Positive Behaviour Support and behaviour management.

  • Experience supporting participants with high-intensity behaviours of concern.

  • Certificate III in Individual Support, Disability Support or a related qualification.

What We Offer

  • Competitive pay of up to $46.70 per hour, plus 12% superannuation.

  • A supportive team environment.

  • Opportunities for ongoing learning and professional development.

  • The opportunity to develop your skills and experience in complex disability and mental health support.

  • A rewarding role focused on person-centred care and community participation.
