Summary of Position:
- Performs surface preparation, brazing, metal cutting and welding using saws, presses, gas and electric welding equipment to fabricate flow meters.
Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions:
- Receives instructions, prints and work orders for each job. Plans details of working procedures, tools and material requirements.
- Fabricates flow meters and components or structures by cutting, bending, burning and welding various metals by using welding techniques and appropriate welding equipment.
- Cleans and prepares surfaces to be welded. Sets up, assembles and tacks welded parts.
- Builds up worn or defective surfaces when appropriate.
- Uses burning equipment and saws to dismantle assemblies or parts and to cut material to size and shape as necessary.
- Checks own work for conformance to prescribed standards and measurements using a variety of measuring instruments.
- Uses knowledge of equipment, work processes and safety practices to work efficiently and safely. Observes and complies with all safety regulations and company policies.
- Maintains clean, orderly, and safe work area and ensures proper handling of tools, equipment, and stock to prevent loss.
- Observes and complies with all safety regulations and company policies.
Other Responsibilities and Functions:
- Operates powered industrial truck (forklift) to load and unload material.
- Maintains a commitment to teamwork and a positive, supportive attitude to all personnel.
- Will assist with the training of lesser qualified employees.
- Supports continuous improvement activities (DBS).
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
- Observes and complies with all safety regulations and company policies.
Education and Experience:
- Experience: 3-5 years welding experience required
- Education: Successful completion of formal in-house welding and completion of recognized welding certification program required.
- Successful demonstration of competence in the following skills as determined through visual observation by the Team Leader Manufacturing Manager or Supervisor:
MIG welding on vertical, horizontal and overhead planes, both stationary and turntable.
TIG welding on at least one of vertical, horizontal and overhead planes, stationary.
Oxy-Acetylene cutting torch.
Skills and Competencies:
- Ability to read and understand written instructions, specifications, blue prints or work orders required.
- Ability to drive, or be trained to drive forklift.

Work Environment:
- The work environment consists of an indoor or outdoor industrial work environment with good ventilation, adequate lighting and possibly low to loud noise levels.
Physical Demands:
- Work involves varying degrees of precision and control where damage may be considerable. Attention and care is required to prevent injury to others when performing work. Considerable glare emits from work, requiring the wearing of personal protective equipment. Potential exposure to moderate to serious burns. Potential exposure to flying objects, chips and scale. Job site must be structured to prevent injury to others from sparks or flying chips.

The below range reflects the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future. An associate’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors, including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs.
The compensation range for this role is $24.00 - $28.00 USD per hour.We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance and 401(k) to eligible employees.
