Job / Role Summary
The SMTS is a senior technical leader who defines, develops, and transfers advanced dry etch processes for NAND technologies, owning key process levels/modules and translating scaling challenges into executable roadmaps across N / N+1 / N+2\. The role includes FOAK development leadership, robustness/control strategy, multi-functional execution, and technical mentorship across the dry etch organization.
Main Responsibilities
- Own key dry etch process levels/modules and translate technology challenges into executable roadmaps across multiple nodes.
- Lead FOAK dry etch development including recipe architecture, EPD strategy, control plans, and integration alignment.
- Establish tool robustness mechanisms (e.g., redundancy/controls/monitors as described in the posting) to improve manufacturability and maturity criteria.
- Drive multi-functional execution across Technology Development, Process Integration, and Manufacturing; provide clear technical status and risk updates.
- Collaborate with equipment/supplier teams to define and implement process-level hardware roadmaps; resolve complex yield/defectivity/integration issues using data/model-based methods.
Other Responsibilities
- Act as recognized technical expert; mentor MTS, interns, and early-career engineers on plasma etch fundamentals and data-driven problem solving.
- Contribute to patents/technical knowledge sharing forums as part of technical leadership expectations described in the posting.
- Integrates AI-assisted tools and insights into daily work to improve efficiency, quality, or effectiveness, exercising sound judgment and complying with organizational standards and legal requirements.
- Contributes to a culture of continuous improvement by identifying, testing, and sharing AI-enabled enhancements within one’s scope of work.
Candidate Profile
Minimum Qualifications / Experience
- PhD ≥12 yrs, or Master’s ≥15 yrs, of relevant experience in
Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or related field, in Dry Etch
- With extensive dry etch PD experience
- Evidence of external/industry recognition and ability to represent the organization technically
- innovation leader: patents, publications, invited talks, leadership roles in technical committees/consortia.
Must-have technical skills
- Advanced dry etch process development, FOAK execution, and strong mechanistic understanding of plasma etch physics/chemistry.
- Strong DOE/SPC/control strategy competency.
Must-have soft skills
- High-influence leadership across teams/sites; strong mentoring and executive-ready communication.
Highly desirable / preferred
- AI-enabled analysis / automation capability aligned to process robustness and monitoring improvements (where applicable).
