Description
As a Claims intern, you report to the Adjusting Services Senior Manager. You will gain valuable insight into the insurance claims lifecycle. You will have the opportunity to participate in meetings, interact with vendors, and develop an understanding of our claims processes through real-world experience and mentorship.
Compensation Minimum: $25.00
Compensation Maximum: $39.00
What you will do
- Develop an understanding of our business, corporate culture, and structure to support your work.
- Contribute creative ideas and strategic approaches in response to changing situations.
- Jump into the world of claims management by learning the fundamentals of claim handling and partnering with an experienced team member who will provide guidance, support, and real-world exposure to the claims process.
- Build your industry knowledge and technical skills through hands-on training with our claims systems while participating in team huddles and quality meetings that keep the business moving forward.
- Get a behind-the-scenes look at how the organization operates by attending leadership meetings, and vendor partner meetings to learn how business decisions, performance metrics, and process improvements drive success.
- Explore multiple areas of the business through cross-training and shadowing opportunities with our Roadside Assistance, Rental, and Auto Physical Damage (APD) teams, gaining a well-rounded understanding of the customer claims experience.
Requirements
- Must be in student status at an accredited 4-year college or university during the internship, graduating August 2027 or later.
- Must be pursuing a Bachelors, Masters, or PhD.
- Major/program must align with internship role.
- Currently pursuing a degree in Business, Risk Management, Insurance, Finance, or a related field.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members, leaders, and vendor partners.
- Eagerness to learn, ask questions, and take initiative in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams.
- Interest in insurance or claims operations is preferred.
Additional Information
- To ensure a strong start, all employees participate in our New Employee Orientation during their first week. This experience is held in person at our Madison, WI Headquarters or one of our AmFam core locations to help you connect with our mission, meet key team members and build relationships that support your growth. At times, sessions may be delivered virtually based on scheduling and availability.
