Description
The Pool Director is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the club's swimming pool. This individual will manage all aspects of the pool, including staff management, member services, facility maintenance, and program development. The Pool Director will report to the General Manager and work closely with other department heads to ensure that the pool runs smoothly and safely.

This is a seasonal position each year, which allows for pre-season planning and staffing as well as after-season reporting and planning. This opportunity is terrific for someone interested in a long-term seasonal management position at Aspetuck Valley Country Club.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Develop and implement policies and procedures for the pool area to ensure compliance with local regulations, health and safety standards, and club rules.
- Manage a team of lifeguards, swim instructors, and other pool staff, providing training, coaching, and performance evaluations as needed.
- Maintain a clean and safe pool environment, including routine maintenance and repair of equipment and facilities.
- Create and manage pool schedules, including lap swim times, swim lessons, water aerobics classes, and other activities.
- Promote membership and encourage member engagement by developing and executing programs that meet the needs and interests of the club's members.
- Develop and implement budgets for pool operations, including staffing, supplies, and maintenance expenses.
- Ensure that all members and guests are treated with professionalism, respect, and courtesy, and that any complaints or concerns are addressed promptly and effectively.
- Collaborate with other departments to coordinate events, activities, and other initiatives that enhance the overall member experience.
- Keep up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in the aquatics industry and implement new strategies as appropriate.

- Attend manager’s weekly meetings as requested, communicate regularly and perform other tasks as delegated by the General Manager and/or Club House Manager.

Certification:
- lifeguard certified
Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Strong customer service ability to work effectively with members, guests, and staff.
- Knowledge of local and state regulations regarding pool operations, health and safety standards, and risk management practices.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
Language and Communication Skills:
- Well-defined member service and staff dedication.
- Effective presentation, teaching and communication skills
Physical, sensory and motor demands:
- Required to stand for long periods and walk, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch and twist or reach.
- Must be able to be hands-on with staff in the water, as necessary.
- Must be able to sit and swim for prolonged periods of time.
- Push, pull or lift up to 30 pounds.
- Work in hot, humid and noisy environment.
