Description
Our client is seeking an experienced Head: Financial Reporting to provide strategic and operational leadership within the Finance function. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, the successful candidate will oversee financial reporting, governance, regulatory compliance and financial controls while ensuring accurate and timeous reporting to key internal and external stakeholders. This is an excellent opportunity for an accomplished finance professional with strong IFRS knowledge, commercial acumen and experience operating within a highly regulated environment who is interested in a 12-Month Fixed-Term Contract.
Responsibilities:
- Managing the day-to-day financial reporting function and ensuring the effective operation of the Finance unit.
- Developing, maintaining and implementing robust financial controls, policies and procedures.
- Ensuring compliance with applicable legislation, regulations, governance requirements and internal financial policies.
- Preparing accurate and timeous financial reports, performance analyses and statutory returns for executive management, the Board and relevant regulatory authorities.
- Preparing Annual Financial Statements in accordance with IFRS and applicable accounting policies.
- Ensuring proper books of account and supporting financial records are maintained.
- Coordinating internal and external audit processes and addressing audit requirements.
- Ensuring compliance with applicable tax legislation.
- Leading the implementation of new accounting standards and related financial reporting requirements.
- Supervising and supporting the Reporting Accountant and contributing to the development of the broader Finance team.
- Managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Supporting the CFO in effectively managing financial resources and identifying financial risks or changes that could affect the organisation.
- Driving continuous improvement, financial governance and operational excellence across the Finance function.
Requirements:
- CA(SA) qualification with strong technical accounting expertise.
- A minimum of five years' post-articles experience within a Finance function at supervisory or management level.
- Experience within the financial services and/or insurance industry will be advantageous.
- Strong working knowledge of IFRS, tax, auditing and the PFMA.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX or a similar accounting system.
- Strong financial statement preparation and analysis capabilities.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Strong commercial awareness and business acumen.
- Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to deliver against strict reporting deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders across all organisational levels.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, functions and stakeholder relationships.
- A high degree of integrity, accountability and professional judgement.
- Strong leadership capabilities, including the ability to inspire teams, manage change, drive delivery and promote collaboration.
