Roles and Responsibilities
- Responsible for electronic hardware design and engineering, including designing, developing, modifying, and evaluating electronic circuits, assemblies, and subsystems for medical devices and other hardware systems. Common skill sets include Power Electronics, Analog, Digital, Mixed Signal, Power Management, Battery Systems, DC/DC Converters, Microcontrollers, and Embedded Hardware.
- Develop specialized knowledge within the power electronics discipline and serve as a technical resource within the team. Maintain awareness of the latest technical developments and contribute to engineering strategy, best practices, and technology decisions.
- Apply technical expertise to design robust, reliable, and manufacturable electronic solutions. Perform circuit analysis, hardware debugging, verification testing, root cause investigations, and evaluation of design alternatives.
- Support products throughout their lifecycle, including manufacturing support, production issue resolution, component obsolescence management, design improvements, and implementation of engineering changes.
- Use judgment to solve moderately complex technical problems across product development, manufacturing, quality, and supplier interactions. Take a practical and data-driven approach to identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
- Participate in Engineering Change Request (ECR) and Engineering Change Order (ECO) activities, including impact assessments, technical documentation, verification planning, and implementation of design changes.
- Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements. Explains difficult or sensitive information and works across functions to build consensus and drive technical solutions.
Required Qualifications
- Experience in Engineering/Technology and Electronic Hardware knowledge level is comparable to a Master's degree from an university or college (or equivalent relevant experience).
- Strong background in electronic hardware development with demonstrated experience in power electronics.
- Working knowledge of analog and digital electronics and the integration of complete electronic systems.
- Experience with laboratory testing, troubleshooting, debugging, and verification of electronic hardware.
- Experience supporting manufacturing activities, including root cause analysis, corrective actions, and implementation of hardware improvements.
Desired Characteristics
- Strong experience with power electronics, power supplies, power management, battery-powered products, or related disciplines.
- Experience supporting products in production environments and working with manufacturing, quality, sourcing, and suppliers to resolve technical issues.
- Familiarity with ECR/ECO processes, design transfer, production launch, and lifecycle management activities.
- Strong oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems. Established project management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
