Job Summary:
The Regional HR Director is responsible for leading a large regional HR team in managing and executing Human Resources initiatives in support of CSA Group’s HR and Corporate strategies. The role focuses on being the face of HR to the organization in the areas of: employee relations, performance management, succession planning, employee engagement and recruitment. The Director supports all Leadership teams (e.g. Standards, Operations, Finance, Legal, Technology, Standards, etc.). The Director promotes, communicates and implements organizational-wide Human Resources initiatives and assists/provides feedback in their development. The Director works with the VP, People & Culture on Labour Relations in Canada.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
Regional HR Director:
- Accountability for managing (coordinating) processes and emerging issues in the following areas: Total Rewards; Performance Management; Employee and Leadership Development; Employee Engagement; Organizational Development; Change Management; Recruitment; Talent Management; Succession Planning; Diversity and Inclusion and Employee Relations
- Build strong business relationships with management and establish credibility with employees at all levels within the region.
- Through their team, works with the VP, People & Culture to maintain and manage effective Labour Relations, including communications, grievance management, arbitrations, and negotiations.
- Understands the business mission, challenges and strategic initiatives to influence the people agenda for the organization.
- Supports the organization design/succession planning discussion/process with the business to ensure alignment with overall business strategy.
- Supports the Talent Acquisition team for strategic and proactive recruiting in line with the talent acquisition strategy and designated metrics; participates in interviews for all management level and above candidates at Manager.
- Assists the business with maintaining positive employee relations and managing the conflict resolution process, as required.
- Closely partners with HR team and management to design and deliver HR solutions that drive business results.
- Working with Talent Management, identifies and acts upon coaching opportunities with business leaders while considering organizational implications.
- Coaches managers to effectively and creatively utilize their talent resources.
- Provides support in using HR systems, tools and processes. § Partners with COE (Staffing; Talent Management; Total Rewards) to provide end-to-end HR support to the clients.
- Ability to develop and coach HR staff in different functions and roles.
Talent Management (TM):
- Supports the organization in a cultural transformation that aligns actions with CSA Group values and leadership essentials through the implementation of TM programs
- Partners with HRBPs and business leaders to implement the Talent Management strategy to support the organization’s strategic plans
- Supports, implements and evaluates organizational development solutions globally
- Supporting Talent Management with facilitation of Change Management initiatives aligned with the organization’s strategy
- Facilitates the organization’s succession planning activities and provides necessary direction and resources § Supports management teams by accurately observing behaviours, objectively assessing the competence and development potential of individuals
- Supports the organization's employee engagement initiatives through input into action plans.
Preferred Education & Experience:
- Graduate degree in HR or related field preferred
- Human Resources Designation (CHRL/CHRE; SHRM; etc.)
- 10-15 years of Human Resources experience with minimum 5 years HR management experience
- Labour Relations experience
- Proven ability to build strong business acumen and apply that learning when making recommendations
- Excellent consulting and analytical skills; focused on results, skilled at building strong professional relationships at all organizational levels
- Demonstrated competencies in all aspects of HR Management (i.e. succession planning, performance management; total rewards; labour relations; coaching)
- Ability to guide clients through organizational change and influence Senior Managers
