Job Description:
Grey Owl AI is seeking a Low Voltage Project Technical Lead to oversee the technical design, installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of integrated security, access control, and networking systems across residential, commercial, and hospitality projects.
This role combines hands-on technical work with field leadership. You will serve as the technical resource for installers, subcontractors, and project managers, helping deliver reliable systems, maintain installation standards, and develop junior technicians.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the technical implementation of access control, intrusion detection, CCTV, and networking systems across multiple concurrent job sites.
- Review system designs, wiring diagrams, equipment specifications, and installation plans before work begins.
- Install, configure, commission, and troubleshoot access control systems, IP cameras, recording platforms, and network infrastructure.
- Configure Ubiquiti/UniFi switches, access points, VLANs, and related network equipment.
- Resolve complex technical issues escalated by field technicians.
- Coordinate with project managers, subcontractors, clients, and other trades to meet project scope, schedule, applicable codes, and quality standards.
- Mentor and train junior technicians on installation practices, troubleshooting, testing, and documentation.
- Conduct site walkthroughs, quality inspections, system testing, and punch-list reviews.
- Maintain system configurations, network diagrams, cable schedules, and as-built documentation.
- Support project handover to clients and internal support teams.
Required Qualifications
- At least 5 years of hands-on experience installing and integrating low voltage systems.
- Experience leading field technicians or coordinating installation crews.
- Strong working knowledge of access control hardware, controllers, readers, and system programming.
- Experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting CCTV/IP cameras and recording systems.
- Proficiency with IP networking, particularly Ubiquiti/UniFi, including VLANs, switches, access points, and PoE.
- Working knowledge of intrusion detection and alarm systems.
- Ability to interpret architectural drawings, low voltage schematics, and equipment specifications.
- Strong troubleshooting, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and coordinate priorities across multiple sites.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between project locations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Salto, Vingcard, Hanwha, Milestone, DSC Neo, Alarm.com, or comparable platforms.
- Experience with AV integration, distributed audio, lighting controls, and smart home automation.
- Relevant BICSI or manufacturer certifications.
- Experience delivering projects in high-end residential, commercial, multifamily, or hospitality environments.
- Experience with construction coordination, project scheduling, and subcontractor oversight.
