Description
Company: National Business Capital
Role: Director – Institutional Partnerships (Commercial Lending & Private Credit)
Location: Remote / Primary Markets
Department: Partnerships
Employment Type: Full-Time
About the Role
National Business Capital is expanding its institutional footprint and seeking a highly accomplished, market-facing Director – Institutional Partnerships. This executive-level role is responsible for driving business development across lower-to-middle market commercial banking, private credit, private equity, investment banking, and financial advisory channels (targeting companies with $2M to $100M+ in annual revenue.)
The ideal candidate possesses deep capital markets expertise, an extensive network of referral partners, and a proven track record of origination in complex transactional environments. As Director, you will position National as a premier capital solutions partner—filling liquidity gaps, providing bridge capital, and structuring flexible non-bank debt solutions where traditional lenders fall short.
Key Responsibilities
- Institutional Relationship Development: Cultivate, expand, and manage high-value strategic relationships with investment bankers, private equity sponsors, independent sponsors, M&A advisors, capital brokers, and family offices.
- Deal Origination & Sourcing: Drive deal flow across the entire transaction lifecycle, identifying qualified opportunities for acquisition financing, subordinated debt, growth capital, bridge loans, and recapitalizations.
- Strategic Transaction Structuring: Identify critical capital gaps—including collateral shortfalls, timing constraints, and out-of-scope bank criteria—and position National’s flexible capital options into broader transaction structures.
- Cross-Functional Alignment: Partner closely with internal underwriting, risk, and executive leadership teams to ensure seamless deal execution, clear market communication, and superior partner support.
- Market Intelligence & Strategy: Gather real-time intelligence on private credit trends, lender behavior, and market shifts to inform channel strategy and maintain National’s competitive edge.
- Pipeline & Revenue Performance: Independently build, maintain, and manage a robust deal pipeline to consistently meet or exceed annual origination and funding targets.
Qualifications & Ideal Profile
- 10+ Years of Relevant Experience: Extensive background in commercial lending, private credit, investment banking, asset-based lending (ABL), or financial sponsor coverage targeting lower-to-middle market companies.
- Established Network: Active relationships across middle-market financial sponsors, advisory firms, private equity networks, and corporate intermediaries.
- Technical Financial Acumen: Deep command of alternative debt structures, credit analysis, and complex transaction mechanics for sponsor-backed, founder-led, or transitional businesses.
- Executive Communication & Presence: Exceptional interpersonal and presentation skills with demonstrated success negotiating and building consensus among C-suite executives and financial partners.
- Entrepreneurial Drive: Self-directed origination mindset with the agility to excel within a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
What Success Looks Like
Success in this position is measured by high-caliber partner engagement, sustained institutional deal origination, and expanding National’s reputation as a reliable, senior-level capital partner for complex corporate transactions.
