About Jeeny:
Jeeny is a mobile application that eases daily commuting and transportation. By connecting you with your preferred mode of transportation, we are fulfilling our aim of making mobility accessible, affordable, and flexible for all.
We are a joint venture between MEIG (Middle East Internet Group), Rocket Internet, and IMENA. Jeeny was established in 2014 as Easy Taxi. However, in 2016, it was revamped as Jeeny to cater to other services. Currently, we are operational in Saudi Arabia and Jordan.
We have offices in Riyadh, Jeddah, Madinah, Amman, Lahore, and Karachi.
About the Role:
We are looking for an Accounting Supervisor to oversee daily accounting operations, ensure accurate and timely transaction processing, and maintain strong financial controls. The role will lead a team of Accountants, review and approve accounting entries, ensure daily bank reconciliations, and resolve discrepancies before they impact month-end closing.
Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Accounting Supervisor will also ensure compliance with VAT and e-invoicing requirements, maintain audit-ready documentation, monitor team performance, and drive continuous process improvements through standardized procedures and automation. The goal is to ensure every transaction is recorded, supported, reviewed, and reconciled accurately and on time.
Responsibilities:
1. Daily monitoring and review
- Run a daily completeness check: compare the day’s bank activity, invoices received and invoices issued against what was posted in the ERP.
- Review and sign off every bank reconciliation daily; challenge any unexplained or aging reconciling item.
- Review unposted, draft and parked entries every day and clear the blockers.
- Check posted entries daily for correct GL coding, cost center, VAT treatment and attached documents
- Approve journal entries, credit notes and adjustments within their authority limit.
2. Controls and compliance
- Enforce segregation of duties: preparer and reviewer are never the same person; vendor master changes are independently verified.
- Maintain and enforce the documentation standard: no entry without its full supporting pack.
- Ensure all invoices and credit notes comply with applicable e-invoicing and VAT rules.
- Prepare VAT return workings before submission.
- Monitor for duplicate payments, duplicate invoices, and unusual or round-sum entries.
- Keep the month-end close checklist and lock prior periods once closed.
3. Team management
- Assign bank accounts, vendors, customers and entities to each Accountant with clear ownership and backup cover.
- Run a 10-minute daily stand-up on the previous day’s status and open items.
- Train new Accountants on the ERP, posting standards and reconciliation procedure; write and maintain SOPs.
- Track individual KPIs, give weekly feedback, and lead quarterly performance reviews.
- Plan leave and cover so no account goes unreconciled on any day.
4. Reporting and escalation
- Publish a daily close status to the Finance Manager: transactions posted, reconciliations complete, open items with owner and age.
- Escalate any item that breaches the standard (e.g., reconciling item over 3 business days, missing approval, suspected error or fraud) the same day.
- Prepare a weekly AR/AP aging summary and suspense account status.
5. Month-end close and audit
- Lead the transaction-side month-end close: cut-off, accruals, sub-ledger to GL reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations for owned accounts.
- Act as the point of contact for external auditors on transaction processing and supporting documents.
- Track audit findings to closure and update controls accordingly.
6. Process improvement
- Find the root cause of recurring errors and fix the process, not only the entry.
- Work with the teams on automation: bank feeds, auto-matching rules, recurring entries, approval workflows.
- Keep the chart of accounts usage and cost center mapping clean and consistent.
