Job Description
Engineering Manager leads a cross-functional engineering team consisting of hardware and firmware engineers responsible for the development, delivery, and lifecycle support of embedded industrial products.
The role is accountable for building teams, ensuring execution of engineering projects, and aligning technical solutions with business priorities.
Your Responsibilities:
1. Team Leadership & People Management
- Lead, develop, and motivate a team of hardware and firmware engineers
- Build a collaborative engineering culture
- Conduct performance management, coaching, and career development planning
- Promote talent acquisition, retention, and succession planning
2. Project & Delivery Ownership
- Ensure execution of engineering projects following our goals
- Define roles and assign resources to meet project commitments
- Monitor progress, risks, and dependencies (HW/FW integration)
- Guide accountability for delivering high-quality solutions
3. Technical Leadership
- Provide direction on hardware and embedded firmware architecture
- Support decision-making for complex technical trade-offs
- Ensure agreement between hardware design and firmware capabilities
- Promote best practices in product development (testability, reliability, safety)
4. Collaboration
- Collaborate with Product Management, Quality, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain
- Align HW and FW teams to deliver integrated solutions
5. Process & Continuous Improvement
- Enforce engineering processes, standards, and tools
- Identify inefficiencies and lead process improvements
- Support adoption of scalable development practices
The Essentials - You Will Have:
- Bachelor's degree in:
- Electrical Engineering / Electronics
- Computer Engineering / Embedded Systems
- 8+ years of experience in engineering (HW/FW/Embedded)
- 3–5 years of experience in team management
- Experience working with teams (HW, FW, and other disciplines)
- Experience across the full development lifecycle (NPI, sustaining, release)
The Essentials - You Will Have:
- Experience with industrial automation products
- Knowledge of safety / certification (e.g., TÜV, UL)
- Experience with Agile or scaled Agile frameworks
- Exposure to FPGA / ASIC / advanced embedded systems
