The Human Resources University Partner – Total Rewards is responsible for the administration and coordination of the institution’s compensation, benefits, and wellness programs for faculty and staff. This position is responsible for compensation analysis, job analysis, salary administration, benefits administration, employee communications, compliance activities, and wellness initiatives to support equitable and competitive total rewards programs within a higher education environment.
This role works collaboratively with Human Resources staff, institutional departments, vendors, and employees to ensure effective delivery of compensation and benefits services while maintaining compliance with applicable policies, procedures, and regulations.
This role is eligible for a hybrid schedule, working off campus up to 2 days per week.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Compensation Administration
- Conduct compensation analysis using market surveys, benchmarking tools, and internal equity reviews.
- Design and maintain salary structures, pay grades, compensation guidelines, and pay administration processes.
- Conduct job analysis and job evaluations to determine appropriate classifications and compensation placement.
- Assist with job architecture activities including maintaining job families, classifications, and career progression frameworks.
- Partner with department leaders to review and revise job descriptions for consistency, accuracy, and organizational alignment.
- In conjunction with the AVP HR analyze compensation trends and provide recommendations regarding salary adjustments, promotional increases, equity reviews, and retention considerations.
- Ensure compensation practices comply with applicable federal, state, and local regulations including: Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA); Equal Pay Act; Title VII; Pay transparency and wage laws
- Assist with annual compensation review and budget preparation processes.
- Prepare compensation-related reports, spreadsheets, presentations, and supporting documentation.
Benefits Administration
- Administer employee benefits programs including medical, dental, vision, retirement, life insurance, disability, tuition assistance, leave programs, and voluntary benefits.
- Design and implement open enrollment activities including employee communications, informational sessions, materials distribution, and vendor coordination.
- Respond to employee questions regarding benefits eligibility, enrollment, claims, and coverage.
- Process benefits enrollments, changes, and terminations in HRIS and vendor systems.
- Coordinate with benefits vendors, carriers, brokers, and third-party administrators to resolve issues and maintain effective service delivery.
- Conduct benefit audits
- Continually monitor Workday integrations; resolve any errors; technical issues
- Ensure benefits administration complies with applicable regulations including but not limited to: Affordable Care Act (ACA); ERISA; COBRA; HIPAA; IRS regulations; State and federal benefits laws.
Workday Administration and HR Systems Support
- Maintain and update compensation, job, organizational, and benefits data within Workday and related HR systems.
- Support Workday business processes related to compensation, benefits, open enrollment, job changes, and organizational assignments.
- Assist with Workday testing, audits, reporting validation, and system updates.
- Generate and analyze Workday reports and dashboards related to compensation, benefits, staffing, and total rewards activities.
- Partner with HRIS and Information Technology teams to troubleshoot system issues and improve data accuracy and process efficiency.
- Assist with maintaining security roles, workflows, and documentation related to total rewards processes within Workday.
- Provide end-user support and guidance to employees and managers regarding Workday compensation and benefits transactions.
- Participate in Workday enhancement initiatives, process improvements, and training activities.
Employee Wellness and Communication
- Assist in coordinating employee wellness and well-being initiatives and events.
- Develop and distribute employee communications related to compensation, benefits, wellness, and open enrollment.
- Prepare presentations, guides, FAQs, and informational materials for employees and departments.
- Conduct employee orientation and benefits information sessions as needed.
- Maintain and update total rewards information on institutional websites and internal communication platforms.
HR Reporting and Compliance
- Maintain accurate compensation and benefits records and documentation.
- Generate reports and assist with data tracking and analysis related to compensation and benefits programs.
- Support HR recordkeeping, audits, and documentation management activities.
- Assist with process improvements related to compensation and benefits administration.
- Maintain confidentiality and security of employee and institutional information.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- Five (5) years of experience in full cycle compensation or total rewards administration.
- Experience conducting compensation analysis, job evaluation, and salary administration.
- Expertise in MS Office/Excel; Compensation analysis
- Knowledge of benefits regulations, administration, principles and practices.
- Working knowledge of applicable employment laws and regulations.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and customer service skills.
- Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficiency with HRIS systems (Workday preferred) Microsoft Excel, and other office applications.
- Ability to manage confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in higher education; familiarity with faculty and staff employment structures.
- Professional certification such as CEBS, CCP, or related certification.
- Experience with compensation surveys and HR reporting tools.

Compensation/Total Rewards
The salary range for this position is $75,000 - $87,000/year.
