Responsibilities:
The Flight Data Engineer is responsible to the Senior Manager Flight Safety for implementing, maintaining and continuously improving the Flight Data Analysis and Monitoring Program (FDAP) (including Hazard Identification, Safety Risk Assessment, Safety Risk Mitigation, Safety/Operational Reporting), software, and applications throughout the Group that includes research, development, maintenance, updating and upgrading, as well as providing assistance and support across the group, in accordance to applicable regulatory, company, ICAO and IOSA requirements; and ensure continuous compliance to all applicable local and international regulations and standards, as well as AirAsia Group requirements.

Functional Duties:
Ensure, at the same time assist and support Group and AOCs to:
- Communicate and maintain close Oversight the following Service Provider (Teledyne) Activities: - ACMS configuration and customization
- AirFASE FAP configuration
- Server status and activities (e.g. Restart, Memory, Access, etc.)
- AirFASE troubleshooting (e.g. Access issue, Data processing issue, etc.)
- WQAR troubleshooting (with Engineering)
- FDIMU troubleshooting (with Engineering)
- ACMS hourly email configuration - oversees the implementation of all activities and processes associated with the FDAP
- provide assistance to Senior Manager Flight Safety and Chief Safety Officer in establishing FDAP objectives
- ensure that safety information derived from the FDAP is effectively communicated throughout management and non-management operations personnel
- facilitate, maintain and review the effectiveness of the FDAP in identifying operational and safety hazards
- Maintain and ensure the proper functioning of the Flight Data Monitoring (FDM) software and related systems.
- Develop and implement enhancements to the FDM system to improve data collection and analysis capabilities.
- Coordinate with IT and avionics specialists to resolve technical issues affecting the FDM system.
- Ensure that flight data is accurately captured and securely stored in compliance with relevant data protection regulations.
- Monitoring and assessing the effectiveness of existing FDA event-monitoring parameters and triggering logic;
- Support the integration of flight data systems with other safety and operational systems within the organization.
- working with the FDAP team comprising of other Flight Data Analysist
- review the FDAP Manual to ensure currency and applicability in accordance to regulatory requirements
- act as Point of Contact when communicating flight data matters with other departments of the organization and service providers, and
- maintain and protect data confidentiality and security within the FDAP team and any other relevant operational disciplines of the organization.
- Develop annual plan and budget developments for sub-department to align with department-wide’s strategy including ensue budget adherence to the approved budget
- Lead SOPs development and amendment to ensure all SOPs align with business objectives and regulatory requirement
- Track operating progress and result against annual plan and KPIs to ensure targets are met; develop action plans as needed
- Lead the identification of innovation and continuous improvement initiatives
- To conduct FDA Training when certified
Role Duties
- Develop annual plan and budget developments for sub-department to align with department-wide’s strategy including ensue budget adherence to the approved budget

Traits
- Sound knowledge of the organization’s operations, procedures and activities
- Broad aviation technical knowledge
- An extensive knowledge of safety management systems (SMS) and have completed appropriate SMS training
- Superior computer programming or science and analytical skills
- Good understanding of safety data science principles and techniques to support SMS
- Experience implementing and/or managing SMS
- Experience and qualifications in aviation accident/incident investigation and human factors
- Experience and qualifications in conducting safety/quality audits and inspections
- Sound knowledge of aviation regulatory frameworks, including ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPS) and relevant civil aviation regulations
- The ability to communicate at all levels both inside and outside the company
- The ability to be firm in conviction, promote a just and fair culture‖ and yet advance an open and nonpunitive atmosphere for reporting
- The ability and confidence to communicate directly to the head of department as his advisor and confidante
- Well-developed communication skills and demonstrated interpersonal skills of a high order, with the ability to liaise with a variety of individuals and organizational representatives, including those from differing cultural backgrounds
