Raytheon’s Systems Engineering & Test Capabilities organization is seeking a Senior System Engineer in Huntsville, Alabama to support radar performance analysis activities for missile defense flight test missions. In this role, you will perform radar performance assessments, analyze data from live mission events, develop and implement verification strategies for advanced radar capabilities and software builds, and support systems validation efforts within Hardware‑in‑the‑Loop and other mission-representative environments. You will work both independently and alongside multidisciplinary engineering teams to evaluate sensor behavior, investigate anomalies, and prepare technical findings for internal and external stakeholders.
What You Will Do
- Plan, prepare, and execute radar performance analysis activities supporting live missile defense flight tests, ensuring sensor readiness and alignment with mission objectives.
- Analyze radar measurement data collected during flight test events to characterize detection, tracking, discrimination, and overall sensor performance under operationally representative conditions.
- Evaluate time‑sensitive radar outputs, including track timelines, track quality, measurement accuracy, and sensor resource usage, to determine compliance with mission and system-level requirements.
- Perform pre‑mission analysis using engineering tools and flight‑test simulation environments to predict radar behavior, assess risk areas, and identify expected performance envelopes.
- Produce high‑quality technical artifacts including performance reports, engineering briefings, mission analysis summaries, and data packages used to inform leadership, government stakeholders, and mission partners.
- Support readiness reviews and mission execution events by presenting radar performance expectations, risk assessments, and post-test analysis plans.
- Maintain configuration control of analysis procedures, data pipelines, scripts, and verification artifacts to ensure repeatability, traceability, and compliance with engineering processes.
Qualifications You Must Have
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience.
- Experience with scripting and/or software development (MATLAB, Python, C/C++, and/or Linux/Red).
- Experience with Systems engineering (example integration, verification and/or system testing).
Qualifications We Prefer
- Demonstrated experience in test, integration, or verification and validation of X-Band family of radars, Early Warning Radars or other Missile Defense System sensors.
- Experience analyzing Sensor, RF, or radar data, such as time-series measurements, track data, signal returns, resources, or discrimination, using engineering tools.
- Experience working in multidisciplinary teams of systems engineering professionals.
- Experience with MATLAB, Linux Operating Systems, and Shell scripting for performing integration, verification, and validation test analysis.
- Experience interfacing with internal or external customers, providing technical solutions to user requirements, analyzing radar data, and generating and maintaining technical documentation and work instructions.
